Home Is Where The Heart Is, #ZoneWest's Amchi Mumbai

When someone asks me what my city has to offer I face a huge dilemma between two phrases that aptly describe the city of Mumbai. Ironically the ‘city of dreams’ is also the ‘city that never sleeps’ and thats what defines Mumbai so beautifully.

Being born in the nation’s financial, cultural and entertainment capital I’ve seen how dreams make this city tick. Some would argue that it is by far the most densely populated city, a far cry from what one would define as a suitable city to live in, the non-existent infrastructure and the chaos in the routine making it a nightmare to endure. But hang on, the benefits outweigh the limitations. Mumbai gives you what no other city can; a chance to live your dreams. Be it a millionaire driving past marine drive or a common man sitting on the promenade, Mumbai gives them the same opportunities to make life what they want it to be.

Mumbai is driven as a never-say-die battlefield, that pushes the limits with hard work, risks and persistence. The fact that the city has opened its doors to more than the traditional forms of education, employment and entertainment is proof enough to the testament it swears by to create a forward thinking, hands-on and life-loving experiences. The city allows you to be what you want to be, given that you have the zeal to drive continuously to put your dream in first gear.

Mumbai is designed as an all-inclusive dreamland, that gives you wings to fly and chase your dreams. The fact that the city is over-populated gives enough evidence of something special it has in it to welcomes people from all over into its fold and the moulds them from being expats to residents. The physical and cultural design encourages people to come together and share their success, happiness, fear and failure with the city’s out-of-the-way efforts and hospitality.

Mumbai is connected with an invisible thread, that reaches out to take a hand and begin a journey and go on to build the strongest ties. Just the manner in which the seven independent islands of Bombay came together to make what Mumbai is today, the city brings in all its diversity to become a gorgeous land parcel. The connect the city offers between dreams and actions, between ability and reach, between aspirations and paths is astoundingly real and achievable.

Mumbai is nothing like anything, because when I wake up and look out of the window I don’t see a crumbling palace. I see the ambition of drive at St.Xaviers, I see the beauty of design at Kala Ghoda and I see the business connect at powerhouses like Tata Motors. I've shuttled around the world, lived in four out of seven continents and experienced over a hundred cities but nothing comes close to Amchi Mumbai. Why? Because during the #ZonalWars the World becomes the body while #ZoneWest’s Mumbai beats as it’s heart.

Asthma: A Lifestyle Disease; Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment With Dulera

Due to environmental changes, various diseases increased in frequency. This especially goes for allergic forms of sickness. As pollution increases, the body is more exposed to certain harmful particles. Normally, the more particles there are, the bigger chance of developing an allergy. One of the best examples is asthma.

This is a respiratory disease and certainly the most debilitating kind of allergy. The main difference lies in body’s reaction to all these agents. Most of the allergies are annoying but nothing more than that. In comparison, asthma can actually be life-threatening. As a result, a patient will have to be cautious and take necessary medication. You can buy Dulera in order to eliminate the symptoms of the disease.

A person who has asthma has episodes of wheezing, shortness of breath and choking. During such periods, he struggles to catch air. As you can presume, choking is caused by an inability to inhale which in terms, is a result of reduced nasal passageways. When an allergen comes into contact without mucous membrane, the body recognises it as a hostile invader. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have means to deal with it. Subsequently, tissue will become inflamed, red and swollen.

Asthma is a disease that affects a person at an early age. It usually appears before a child starts going to school. Sometimes, it may appear at a later time but this is very rare occurrence. In most of the cases, an infant has genetic predisposition for developing the sickness. This flaw makes his mucous membrane very thin and sensitive. As a result, almost anything can irritate it. When a child gets older, there is a chance that asthma will subdue or at least reduce in intensity. Have in mind that different people have different severity of symptoms. While someone’s life is endangered by asthma, others barely notice it.

When we talk about allergens, almost anything in our midst can cause this reaction. Plant pollen is the common culprit. These particles enter patient’s nostrils and start the reaction. However, there are numerous others matters which can cause it such as animal hair, dust, deodorants, chemical products, home products etc. In some cases, a patient may experience a reaction to more than one allergen. This makes entire treatment that much harder. Some substances appear only during a certain season (as previously mentioned pollen). This means that patient will notice symptoms during summer or spring.

Like for most medical conditions, pharmacists from You! Drugstores recommend a natural treatment. In other words, a patient should avoid everything that bothers him. As it turns out, this is easier said than done. Because of this, you should probably use medicines. Dulera can eliminate most of the symptoms which are bothering you. Have in mind that this drug needs to be used for a longer time. It usually shows first results after a week. As such, a patient should never use it in case of sudden asthma attack. Common side effects of Dulera are throat irritation, dry mouth, hoarseness and stuffy nose. In certain cases, it may even raise patient’s blood pressure.

Has Technology Made Life More Easier? #JanoTohMano

As I was browsing through various social networking platforms, I chance upon this advert by Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund that got me thinking about technology. A super-complicated word that it is, Technology has made life so much easier. I know you are going to say that everything comes with its share of advantages as well as disadvantages, and; I shall be the first one nodding in agreement. However, you cannot take away the convenience it has brought to lives making things more accessible and simpler.

I believe that the biggest change that technology has revolutionised is in the field of education; that with so much unprecedented access to information and options, it is more of a boon to all parties involved than a curse. Technology has not only made that difference to the teachers and students but also has helped parents and guardians equally. Well, you don’t believe it… lets debate.

First and foremost, the admission process has become so much simpler. I remember my sister running pillar to post when her little one was ready for school. Not only did she have to go from one school to another inquiring about the process, but also for application forms and submissions but the paperwork was a damper as well. And now technology has offered the same information at a click of a tab and also has made form submission, list checking and interview scheduling more convenient.

When I started my research for school when #PrincessHeer was ready a couple of years ago all I really had to do was dedicate a few hours on the laptop. I applied for schools online which was so much easier and with no paperwork needed. I just scanned the important documents like the birth certificate, proof of residence and doctor’s certificate and kept uploading those on the respective portals.

Not only for us but even for the schools and colleges, this system is so much beneficial as it decreases unnecessary man hours and human error in providing-collating information and also to a certain extent narrows down the selection work and unnecessary manual filing. However just as every coin has the other side, Technological advancement in education has also increased competition with more and more students and parents reaching out to a larger group of institutes and online learning schools too.

So whats your take on technology? After all its the #JanoTohMano times.

Britain’s oldest grooming giant Truefitt & Hill arrived in India a few years ago and has offered the royal grooming services to the Indian market.  Established in 1805 the royals have patronised the brand since the time of King George III and the brand is sure upholding its title as the oldest barbers in the world.

An Experience At A Royal Barbershop, Truefitt & Hill

Touted as the world’s best grooming barbershop for men, Truefitt & Hill is now offering a wide range of services designed to groom men in India to perfection. The brand brings it’s renowned personal grooming products and services for men; including the finest quality of traditional English fragrances, shaving requisites and men's grooming kit. With its ranges, it takes it’s exclusive clientele to a new level of luxury service unrivalled anywhere in the world.

An Experience At A Royal Barbershop, Truefitt & Hill

With a lineage of historic and elite clientele including the British Royal Family, Paul McCartney and Frank Sinatra, the brand certainly has made it to the must-experience list where personal grooming is concerned. And thus the moment an invitation from the brand arrived, our scapegoat made it to their brand new outlet at Peddar Road for a Royal Shave. And now over to what Nilesh had to say about the salon.

The first thing that stood out was the masculine feel to the Truefitt & Hill barbershop, the hospitable staff and refreshing cup of green tea. It didn’t feel like a salon even for a single minute, with the staff clad in white shirts, waistcoats and ties instead of an all-black apron-style ensemble. They prefer to be called expert barbers and not hairstylists or grooming technicians.

An Experience At A Royal Barbershop, Truefitt & Hill

And now all about my experience at an iconic barbershop in the men’s grooming experts. With less than a 2-minute after shower shave, it was a real luxury to sit back and have foam lathered and the expert barber run the razor all over the face. In today’s quick fix times, the luxury is sitting in a barber’s chair and getting a royal shave done.

While I was getting pampered, I decided to take a raincheck on my haircut abut my hair was way too short to be barbered.

So until next time stay stylish, stay groomed.

I love mani and painting my nails, but have such difficulty in getting a perfect mani. Every time I paint my nails there is a smudge, overfill, polish clip etc. I'm sure most of you are nodding in affirmation. But now we have no need to worry anymore. UK’s most successful and popular nail bar chain launched in 1999 by Thea Green that grew into nail polish brand Nails Inc is all set to launch a revolutionary product that will change the lives of all women all over... is the Nail Polish Spray.
Perfect And Fastest Mani's Are Just A Spray Away With Paint Can
Mapping the gap between professional high-quality manicures for women with little time to spare, Nails Inc provides the ultimate in affordable luxury with a trademark 15-minute manicure that offers a quick pampering. The brand's extensive product range is formulated with the latest professional technologies for women that demand uncompromising quality and instant results. Renowned for product innovation their brand new product the spray-on nail paint is called Paint Can.

The spray-on nail paint is formulated to stick to nails but not skin, ensuring a flawless mani every time you want to polish. The process is very simple, to polish your nails spray the lacquer over your fingertips, covering the nail beds without worrying about the excess exposure on the skin. In about 20-30 seconds as the polish dries wash your hands with water and soap and the excess paint will wear off leaving the skin polish-free and the nails perfectly-polished.
Perfect And Fastest Mani's Are Just A Spray Away With Paint Can

Launched earlier this week, Paint Can is available in two shades of Shoreditch Lane and Hoxton Market and retails for £10.00 for a 50ml can. I've been sent the Shoreditch Lane and expect a review in a week after I do all my experimentation with it.

Over a career span of 12 years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with industry stalwarts who have re-defined the professional mandate and grown exponentially.

I started my career with none other than the charismatic Prof. Uday Salunke who took Welingkar Institute from the 10 rooms in Ruia College to the magnificent campus that we see in Matunga today. With him I learnt to dream and strive hard to achieve the dreams. A step in the right direction got me associated with renowned architect Ratan J Batliboi at his design firm Eureka Moments that motivated me to learn new skills and commit to create great moments within the mundane. I learnt compassion and human services when I joined forces with the super-woman Sangeeta Jindal to execute a few of JSW Foundation’s sanitation projects in Tarapur; while working with the JSW Steel Corporate Communications department. Each of these managers and the numerous others I worked with, are exceptional leaders and forward-thinkers who help you achieve your chosen path of professional success.

However the person I want to talk to you about today may seem a little lost among the burden of these big names, he may seem unfamiliar amongst them. But he is my #madeofgreat. Emerald Sequiera, Head Corporate Communication at a pharmaceutical company; my immediate supervisor during my stint with the company. The one person solely responsible for so much I am today; in a competitive environment filled with mediocrity he shone through like a star.

He Inspired Me To Be #MadeOfGreat
Yes, I'm going to publish your picture and embarrass you.

As a leader he knew exactly how to mould young talent; I saw team-mates excel in their responsibilities, being awarded at annual functions and moving to explore better pastures. Over the three years I worked  learnt from him, I didn’t realise how I moved from being average to a star performer. When I look back today I know Emerald was the person responsible who took me from A to Z, simply by giving me a lot of responsibility always backed by decision-making authority and burdened by accountability. His willingness to risk important tasks by delegating to a junior like myself gave me the much needed push to excel. The most important part of his teaching came from every instance he stood up for me, when I failed or faltered. Never the one to let any of us team members take the fall, he had our backs covered all the time; not to defend us but help us learn from our follies. Not only did he stress on the importance of professionalism but he also was a great advocate of the work-life balance. As I moved out of the company in 2009, I did ask him about how he manages to do such amazing things with newbies to which he simply said that he was paying it forward; leaving a legacy of us to take forward. An unassuming-brilliant #madeofgreat man inspired me to find my calling and strive to be #madeofgreat.

Early this year I coined a little (mini) sonnet about what I felt for him...

Teachers I met and passed through,
But the only learnings have been with you.
Never a day dull at the desk as I knew,
It has left a mark, slowly as the days flew.

From a caterpillar to a butterfly I grew,
Shielding me from all the interest anew.
In fiery spirits, annual rebirths & moving on,
Working with you was the best bonus I’ve drawn.

Anything I write, anything I say can never be enough for the impact he has had in my life. He is indeed #madeofgreat whose brightness is reflected in anyone he interacts with.

I’ve found my #madeofgreat and so has Tata Motors in their new Global Brand Ambassador Lionel Messi; an icon for the youth today; a trustworthy, reliable, simple and self-driven athlete. I've told you my thoughts about my #madeofgreat not you tell me what you think of Tata Motor’s association with Lionel Messi?

Until next time,
~ Heena

A gem hidden in the chaos of the Mumbai city, the Resort Mumbai - Madh Marve is the perfect getaway located just 21 kms from Mumbai airport and just 9 kms from the Western Express Highway at Goregaon. The destination retreat occupies a place of pride on the gorgeous stretch of the Aksa beach along the southern end of Madh Island facing the cool blue Arabian Sea. As you drive down the length of the road, the Resort will appear out of nowhere and amaze you with its spell-bounding architectural facade. The closer you get, the more bewilder you will feel with the royal passageway that welcomes guests with its natural palm tree enclosure. The natural marvel and the man-made heaven completely blend together in sync never hindering the glorious presence of each other.

The interiors reflect the rich heritage of the place with modern amenities that seamlessly merge together to give guests the best of both the worlds. We were checked into a gorgeous room that offered enough space for privacy and an equally private balcony overlooking the beach to relax while sipping some tea. Apart from the regular rooms, there are the suites, cottage or the villa that can house a group as well. Every stay option is backed with the regular amenities including wi-fi connectivity and a much-needed mini-bar.

The food fiesta is witnessed in the multiple-themed restaurants and the cafe; and you will be split for choice. The spread for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes is equally elaborate with a fascinating mix between the old and new dish variations to tantalise the palette. While there are special food feasts designed by the chefs throughout the year, Chef Sandeep caters to almost every special request that is made. During our stay they had the Gujarati and Rajasthani Food Fest going on and I gorged on a huge portion of Daal-Bhatti Churma after years; a dish that my grandmother made so often.

The Resort has a private exit onto the Aksa beach and it’s crucial to reiterate that the beach is the most clean, the most untouched I’ve seen in the country. Within a few minutes you can shuttle between the expanse of the resort garden and the beach to enjoy nature in all its glory. They also have a children’s play area, children’s pool and one can even hire the services of a child minder to be able to enjoy the stay worry-free.

The General Manager of the Resort, “Mr. Satyajit Kotwal, took me around to highlight the Resort’s facilities including the numerous banqueting options that can cater to social and official functions for hundred to a thousand people. The Resort truly is a luxury beach resort within the city limits which takes you away from the mundane city life to the relaxed, cozy and laid back holiday in just a few minutes. As Satyajit mentioned, it is no surprise that the Resort has won prestigious Excellence Awards from the travel sector for it impeccable amenities, fantastic customer service and attentive and courteous staff.

Just a day prior to my staycation, the Resort organised a unique initiative RangDiya; wherein 30 women from the NGO Kirti Mahila Utkarsha Mandal created a record of putting together 7000 traditional diyas to make the largest ever Rangoli with diyas covering 13,000 square feet. No mean feat that is.

The weekend that I indulged in my #staycation at the Resort, Madh Marve, has renewed my energies for the upcoming festive season. I’m already planning my next visit, and will book as soon as they reopen their spa which is being renovated at the moment. If you want to unwind from the hectic days in office, but don’t want to bother travelling; take my suggestion and head straight to K. Raheja Corp’s The Resort Mumbai to soak in the Arabian Sea.

Now going back to my Diwali celebrations!

The last few months of the year have arrived… and has brought the best time; the festive quarter. Three months of customs, celebrations and dressing up fun.

We girls need just one reason to dress up, however we are offered many in these months … Navratri, Karwa Chauth, Dusshera, Dhan Teras, Lakshmi Puja and Diwali. And so the hunt for the best outfits, the best accessories and also the best gifts begin. Sometimes it does get a bit difficult to find the perfect matches, but not anymore. Forget the crazy queues outside the trial rooms, forget being pushed around the store, and forget checking ten stores to find an outfit that makes you look like a star; shop from the comfort of your home through a miracle store that everyone knows about, Jabong.

Jabong is a one-stop online heaven for all your fashion and lifestyle needs. The online store aims at offering a hassle-free shopping experience to shoppers with its wide range of products and brands. The only glitch is the amazing number of products in all the price ranges that make it extremely difficult to choose just a few products when you practically want to buy the entire store. As I looked through the amazing collection, I kept adding onto the cart and then had to keep picking one product over the other. I knew instantly that I wanted two definite looks as different from each other as day and night.

Go Ethnic This Festive Season, My Looks From Jabong
Khaadi Green Embroidered Dress - Caprese Elli Large Ochre Tote Bag - Hype Silver Sandals -
Titan Raga Silver Watch - Shamoda Earrings

I know as a mother, wife and most important as a daughter-in-law during the festive times there is so much that will be expected of me during the day; from decorating, cooking to serving and entertaining and last minute emergency tasks. So my outfit for the day needs to be fuss free while being being beautiful and elegant. As I first started browsing I also kept in mind the weather in my city and zeroed in on the sea green Khaadi Embroidered Pant-Kurta; a perfect cotton-silk outfit to keep cool with the sun blazing down my back. Ditching the traditional Churidar Kurta, I added a twist of the Pant-Kurta to experiment this Diwali. The beauty of the intricate embroidery design on the kurta warrants delicate silver accessories and a rush of colour with a ochre tote bag. On the make up front I'd like to wear my hair in side swept curls and go bold on the lips and keep the eyes muted.

Go Ethnic This Festive Season, My Looks From Jabong
Mahotsav Cream Embroidered Lehenga - Dune Mallory Gold Stilettos - Oleva Red Potli Bag -
Sparkles Golden Earrings

While putting together an evening look I'd keep away from the conventional saree, as I want a look that is fun and different. The Mahotsav Floral Cream Lehengas Choli will be perfect for my evening look; it is colorful, fun and gorgeous. I’d love to style it with statement earrings and maybe a cocktail ring and golden slip-ons from Dune London. I would prefer to under-style the outfit and let it speak for itself. Depending on my mood I would like to either let my hair loose or pull it up onto a high bun to give myself a composed look. And on make up front I'd love to mute my lips with a nude lipshine and go dramatic with the eyes.

I've gone #traditionmyway this festive season with a twist in the clothing however I've stayed with the traditional colour family of red and green, auspicious colours aren't they? What do you think of my looks? What styles and colours do you want to flaunt during the festive season?

Until nest time,

I believe that the health of your loved ones is the utmost thing in your mind and you leave no stone unturned to ensure that. I remember my mom always insisted that wash my hands practically all the time when I was growing up. Never realising why and for what; I did it nevertheless and now this habit has become part of my routine. I'm trying to inculcate the same habit in my #PrincessHeer too. I always wash my hand before eating, after using the restroom, once back home from outdoors; and try to ensure #PrincessHeer does it too. However, these days she has been asking me, 'Why momma, how does it help?' to which I have the standard reply, 'Because Momma Says So'.

Lifebuoy Launches The Chamki Initiative #HelpAChildReach5 With Kajol

However as Lifebuoy India invited me to the unveiling of their new video 'Chamki', I was spell-bound. Hand washing is no longer is just about hygiene but it also is about ensuring the health and life of a child. As the panelists discussed the importance of the simple task and how it affected infants I was left aghast. The numbers that were thrown across were not mere figures, they were tiny little dreams that would have changed a family. 6 million children who die before they reach the age of 5, every year all because of the simple task not done. In India, the infant mortality rate (IMR) is 42 per 1,000 live births of which 44% of child deaths under the age of 5 happen in the first 28 days of life during the neonatal stage. The top two causes of death are diarrhoea and pneumonia which accounts to over 1.7 million child deaths. In simple words, a child in India dies every 15 seconds due to these diseases, which are easily preventable by the simple act of hand-washing.

Lifebuoy Launches The Chamki Initiative #HelpAChildReach5 With Kajol

While most people have access to the necessary products for hand-washing, they usually fail to understand the hoopla behind the simple task. The team of Lifebuoy and the gorgeous actress Kajol emphasised the barrier they faced due to the fact that they went out to the common man to discuss a simple task and not much pressing issues like the wars and corruption and bigger health hazards like Cancer and Aids. However, they stood the test of time and now need more and more help in helping to educate the common man the single most effective result of hand-washing; the result of saving a life.

The short film Chamki released by Lifebuoy reiterates the importance of this simple activity through the voice of an unborn child who may or may not be able to reach the age of 5. Please watch the film below and share it with #HelpAChildReach5.

Now, come pledge with me to be part of this program that aims at increasing awareness about the importance of hand-washing with soap to counter infant and child mortality by changing behaviours. Let's inculcate the simple yet very important habit during at the right juncture in life. Lets lather this initiative so that the foaming effect helps remove the dangers that pose to every child and #HelpAChildReach5.

Clothes, jewellery, books, perfumes, toys are the traditional gifts that always make it to the list; and now with Modiji's #DigitalIndia campaign Smartphones are the choice of gifts in practically all gift-lists. Everyone wants to be armed with the latest gadgets and thus smartphones have become the only must-have gadget this festive season. Either it could be your very first foray into the smartphone category or you are looking for that upgrade it is utmost in your mind. One clear reason for a smartphone as the best gift every season is the need for it today as it has replaced the camera, the laptop and the landline phone. So my go-to gift this season for both my parents and my in-laws is the smartphone since they have slowly but steadily ventured into the digital arena and it will be their perfect sounding board.

To make our Diwali shopping more interesting, Asus has launched the #HarPalHappiness offer which gives us a chance to win Flipkart gift vouchers worth INR 1,000 every hour on the purchase of the Zenfone 2 during the festive season. Also if I'm lucky enough you also have an opportunity to win gold vouchers worth INR 25,000 every day. So this festive season act once and reap the benefit twice with ASUS.

The offer has started since October 13th and will continue until November 11th. You can find out more about the offer here.

Do not wait, grab this wonderful offer from Asus India and have a bright and wonderful Diwali!
