Maxi Dresses have such charm and aura to them that the trend is surely not going to cool down for seasons to come. Layer them with cozy jackets or wrap around warm scarves, maxi dresses are still the best bet. My inclination towards dresses has grown in the recent times for the effortlessness of an outfit and ease in styling. I follow a simple principle by combining colours, cuts, and patterns to create a simple yet stylish look. I tend to follow my heart and don a maxi dress as it is one of the most straightforward pieces of clothing to style. So, there is no stopping me from adding few more of these beautiful dresses to my closet.

A maxi makes me feel so happy and relaxed especially when they don’t make you try hard to look good. They simply strike a balance between glamorous and casual, to create either a classy or a daily look. Either style with flats or with heels, maxis can be perfect whether you go for a brunch or to the beach. Prints, colours, silhouettes, one can try anything and still be comfortable in the manner the dress fits on them.

A couple of tips to flaunt a maxi dress in the best way possible…
* Pick a maxi that accentuates the waist
* Opt for strappy sandals with maxis
* Go with a flow silhouettes

I picked this gorgeous maxi dress from Amazon, from a relatively new brand Bronz. It mesmerised me with its amazing splash of colour, in an A-line silhouette, sleeveless and full length in 100% rayon that makes it perfect for those amazingly cozy vacations.

The festivities are just around the corner and if you haven’t yet decided what to wear and where to shop, you will be sorted once you read this post. Working full time, I’ve had zero time to plan my looks for the festive season but the moment I stepped into BIBA I knew I could relax.

BIBA is by far the most loved ethnic brand that is synonymous with fashion-forward Indian wear that beautifully brings together the traditional finery with contemporary comfort. I’m particularly drawn towards their new collection perfect for the upcoming festive season that boasts of spectacular colour, amazing silhouettes and unrestricted combinations. At the store, I was like a little like in a candy store wanting to pick everything I saw, until I finally but with great difficulty made up my mind. Mirroring my excitement was my little one who literally tried the entire Girls collection and made her selection.

Here we are sharing blog space for the very first time in an exclusive Mommy-Baby feature for BIBA. I teamed a Blue Straight fit sheer kurta with a fuchsia flared skirt to highlight the fuchsia embellished border at the hem. I styled the look with statement earrings from Vintage Desi and a box purse by Metaphor. My little one is dressed in a lemon yellow and pink lehenga choli.

Like many women, I too was afraid to layer my clothes for the fear of looking a couple of sizes bigger than I am actually. While most experimentation would make it true, but if you master the art well, the style will be most perfect to compliment your figure and give you a flattering silhouette.

Since I was equally concerned about layering, I tried a lot of variations and chalked out some simple tips to help you get started.
§ If you have never layered before, start with solid colours, neutrals or striped.
§ Keep the under-layers fitted, to keep and maintain your natural shape.
§ Mixing length and proportion will be the key to the final look.
§ Keep the accessories minimum, just sprinkle a few on.

For my first brush with layering, I picked a Sleeveless Flare Maxi Dress with an Under Dress Twinset from Zaful. The dress has a gorgeous Vintage feel to it and is perfect for the summers and the fall.

As it is made in a linen-cotton blend it is a great buy for the Indian weather too. You can see it on the website here. I kept my look simple with the outerwear loose and drapey, but with a structured shoulder. I used colour blocking to create an illusion of layering without actually adding layers of clothing and most important I ditched the sleeves. So basically the dress did the layering for me.

Now, layer to look your best. Head to Zaful, your one-stop online shop for today’s most daring, exciting and edgy fashion apparel. The affordable collections are all about redefining trends, design excellence and exceptional quality to satisfy the needs of every aspiring fashionista. Pick a product you would like to style from the brand and leave me your choice below for a chance to win it for yourself.

Its confession time. I was never good in geometry as I felt it wasn’t a flamboyant enough subject. I loved the exaggeration of the French ‘R’ or the alphabet play of Chemistry but Math was always in the shade of grey shade on the study table.

How To Style Geometric Prints, What I Wore
Jeans: Levis 711, Shirt: B:Kind Clothing, Ballerinas: F-Gali

However when you take geometry out of the books and implement in the world of fashion, there is nothing more interesting than the play of shapes. And honestly whenever I now come across a geometric print I’m instantly drawn towards it. Fashion pieces that include a geometric pattern have a great mathematical feel and I feel like a mathematician when I style it appropriately. It seems like the shapes and patterns can overcome the adverse and come together to form a good precision point to grab all the attention.

Geometry is the hottest print this season and you find them everywhere... on outfits, accessories and footwear. And today I am all set to style my gorgeous pair of geometric ballerinas from F-Gali, a brand that promises to splash some colour into your wardrobes with some stylish flat ballets that are perfect for a day-out or a semi-formal outing or even a fun dance date. These fun babies can be paired with just about everything from prints to metallics and even other patterns. However if you are not very experimental then you could play safe with styling them with denims. Denims go with everything and you can never go wrong with them; hence I've played safe with my first tryst with denim on denim.

The timeless and effortless style of denims just got more stunning with these beautifully crafted shoes from the house of F-Gali. To make my adorned feet the focus and make a statement with them I've kept the rest of the look pretty muted, yet delightfully alluring. This look can be easily transcend from day to night with just a gorgeous neckpiece and a statement clutch.

When I received this gorgeous floral blazer from SheIn, I remembered watching the movie 'The Devil Wears Prada' and instantly connecting it to the quote by Miranda Priestly 'Florals In Spring' and laughing out loud. However I love florals but I know for sure that if not styled correctly a floral piece will make you look like a fashion wreck.

How To Style A Floral Blazer from Shein, What I Wore
It is most important to get the styling for a signature piece like this one perfectly correct. My suggestions to make this blazer look awesome streamline around the minimalistic. I would try either of these two combinations, but you can try whatever catches your fancy cause remember fashion has no rules.

Style it with Tailored Shorts
This look may not be so prominent on the runway now is this a trend that that celebs or fashion divas want to rock but for me this is a perfectly fresh and relaxed look for the floral blazer to take centre stage. Pair it with a nice simple blouse and throw in that blazer to rock the look.

Go Classic with Dark Bottoms
Pair your floral blazer with a understated denim in a dark hue or cigarette pants. To keep the look classy and understated make sure you pair it with a top or a button down shirt in a solid colour, minimum jewellery and kitten heels in neutral or nude shades.

The most important tip that will ensure that the floral blazer is the focal point of the outfit is to keep every other aspect of the styling understated and limited to solid hues. Here is my way to flaunt a floral blazer. Let me know what you think.

After a very comfortable and gorgeous trip to Sri Lanka, I want everything from Marks and Spencer right now. As I strode around in the beach country flaunting the gorgeous summer essential it was the perfect choice to nail the summer on its head.

What To Do In Sri Lanka, #iCynosureInSriLanka, How To Style A Maxi Dress, What I Wore

The material is extremely breezy and soft on the skin and the length is flattering for my body type. I teamed my full-length maxi dress with black floaters for the beach and accessories it with a basic chain pendant from Calvin Klein, a turquoise bracelet and ring. With Tommy Hilfiger sunnies to protect my eyes from the sun and the Marks and Spencer leather and lace backpack to hold the travel essentials, I set out to explore the gorgeous cities of Mirissa and Yala in Sri Lanka.

I’m now going to let the pictures do the talking…. Enjoy.

What To Do In Sri Lanka, #iCynosureInSriLanka A Day At The Tea Plantation, How To Style A High-Low Dress

Yes, it’s the monsoons season, but with no sign of the rains it seems more like the summer. And summers are the perfect season to flaunt the season’s must-have fashion essential dress… the High-Low. The high-low hemlines are soaring into every fashionistas wardrobes this season for its unique and gorgeous asymmetric lengths in beautiful flowy fabrics. With the hem being high in the front and low at the back, it’s the perfect dress to show off those summer tanned legs. Most common style of high low dresses is either halter or strapless, exposing the cheeky collar bones or those sculpted shoulders. The best ones are the ones in bright tones with floral or animal prints that you can pair with shaped accessories as they complement the exposed shoulders.

Sometimes it is a great idea to crunch the dress with a broad belt just below the bust line to break the solid monotone aspect of the dress and accentuate the waistline. You can also add a bolero with a high-low dress that completely changes the entire look. Ideally the right shoes to wear with an asymmetric dress is high heels, wedges or boots as they add height and allow a beautiful flow to the dress.

On my recent trip to Sri Lanka, I wore this gorgeous High-Low dress from Marks & Spencer's Holiday Collection for my date with the tea plantations. It was a perfect choice to stand out during our tea plantation tour at the Heritance Tea Factory Hotel; orange against the green the perfect backdrop. However I chose flats instead of heels as it was a good 2-3 hour walk around the plantation and with a baby in tow who wanted to risk falling down. I accessorized my look with a simple rectangular beige-brown earring pendant combo and beige-brown Miss Bennett London ballet shoes.

I am a heels person, I love towering over practically everything. I love the extra inches that heels add to my 5.3 frame making me feel indispensable. But for years I have taken a lot of liberty with my feet to feel taller and unfortunately they have suffered. Despite the unpleasantness I continue…

How To Style Block Heels, What I Wore

You may think that’s so vain, but it isn’t. It gives me immense happiness to walk on heels and feel some air under my feet! However sometimes you have to make choices and just as I was on the verge, I spun around to see the block heel trend of the early 70’s reappear. So now what I have is the opportunity to stand tall without the pain that heels bring. And boy they are on a super roll this summer with a big comeback from tall chunky blocks to low squares.

The perfect choice for the summers, you can style them with pretty much everything from your favorite dress to jeans to shorts. Block heels are even perfect for the office with a pair of grey cigarette pants or that gorgeous pencil skirt.

One rule of thumb that I prefer to follow is to keep a contrasting balance between the outfit and the footwear. As block heels demand so much attention due to its powerful presence, I like to keep the outfit less heavy in terms of style and fit. Keeping the outfit petite and the accessories minimum, teaming it with block heels make for a great combination with every detail receiving its due credit.

However as most say; Fashion has no rules, you either break them or make them. So just do what catches your fancy. Mix it up, play safe, go crazy, do anything; but just have fun cause fashion is nothing but a great game of roulette.

Here is my first look for the Clarks #MyShoeDiaries where I strike a balance between strength and delicacy. Right in the midst of the scorching summer, a Sunday Brunch is a great way to unwind with friends and family. Opting in for a cute summer dress in vibrant colors and coral lips and of course with one of the tallest block heels I could find from Clarks India.

My second look strikes a balance between casual and stylish; which can sometimes get very difficult. But not when you throw in a gorgeous pair of palazzo with a beautiful schiffli floral lace from Melange by Lifestyle and a simple tank with a few delicate pieces of jewelry. Slip your feet into the block heels to take that look several notches up. A look that is perfect for strolling around in a resort unwinding on that much needed break from the crazy city life.

I love my Ski Tropical Smart Metallic Sandals from Clarks. The truth is the block heels are a sophisticated option in the retro style that is simply impossible to resist. More importantly they are a sure shot way to sashay in style with loads of comfort. So don’t think twice, go dressy or casual in block heels and walk confidently with your hair flying in the air just like every path is your runway.
