ICynosure

It’s the departure of the monsoons in India, and instead of the winters setting in, the October heat is absolutely killing. And living in a city like Mumbai means I need to deal not only with the heat and humidity but also combat dust and pollution every single day. As if that isn’t enough, I need to travel almost 3 hours each day to and from work using public transport. All this put together, my skin becomes a playground for all things worst.

But as most sensible people do, I too believe in the ‘Precaution is better than Cure’ mantra; and so, I’ve upped my skincare game to welcome in the winters. Since last year I’ve included a facial cleansing brush in my skincare routine and its helped maintain my skin beautifully. After trying a couple of brands, I zeroed in on the Oriflame Sweden SkinPro Cleansing System.

The SkinPro Cleansing System is an effective 2-speed powered cleansing brush that deeply cleanses and gently massages the skin; removing dirt, makeup and oil residual, dead skin cells and deep seeded impurities from the pores resulting in visibly smoother-radiant skin with an even skin tone. The product consists of the cleansing device, a normal or sensitive brush head with cover, a table stand, a travel pouch and batteries.

I absolutely love the ergonomic design of the product which makes it convenient to grip and operate. With two speed levels and an automatic one-minute setting, I prefer to alternate between the speeds every day. When I first started using the product, I experienced breakout but I’m glad I didn’t stop at that. Since my skin wasn’t used to the deep cleansing, it reacted differently, but soon settled into a routine. So, my suggestion is don’t stop using the product unless the skin feels damaged and visibly affected.

Since using the Oriflame SkinPro Cleansing System I’ve noticed how the skin structure has strengthened thereby improving the blood circulation. Slowly I noticed the steady peeling off, of the uppermost layer of dead skin cells allowing cell rejuvenation via the exfoliation resulting in softer and smoother skin. I’ve even noticed that the deep cleansing has enabled skincare and make-up products be absorbed better giving a visibly more effective look.
Here’s how you can make the most of the Oriflame SkinPro Cleansing System:
§  Moisten the brush head with water.
§  Apply a small amount of cleansing gel to the brush or face.
§  Cleanse by moving the brush head gently around the face.
§
Rinse face with water and moisturise.
Are you ready to say hello to luminous skin? Then invest in a good cleansing system.

Until next time,
- Heena

The facets of life are varied and the way each one of us looks at them are different; from work priorities to health benefits, from social skills to personality development. Most individuals put together different dimensions of life to complete a picture, however, as a mother I ensure that a complete picture includes physical, mental, emotional, social, financial and spiritual aspects. And to attain this, I diligently keep abreast with the nutritional needs of the body.

My mother used to always tell me that no single food item is healthy or unhealthy, what is unhealthy is the lack of moderation. A balanced diet is an epitome of not only the prerequisite nutrients but also macronutrients like protein, carbohydrates and fat along with micronutrients like vitamins and minerals. The manner in which one can ensure health and wellness is to ensure a balanced nutritional intake that helps to maintain a healthy weight, retains necessary body fat, provides optimum energy, and promotes sound sleep. A diet that provides the daily requirement of calories from carbohydrates (50-60%), proteins (10-15%) and fat (20-30%); is considered a balanced diet.
However, of late, there has been so much talk about ‘fat’ in a negative way, which not many people realise is both essential and healthy for a balanced outlook. Fat not only provides energy for proper functioning but also assists in processing vitamins and synthesizing hormonal balance. Fats, both polyunsaturated such as walnuts, flax seeds, etc; monounsaturated such as olive oil and omega-3 fatty acids such as fish oil, etc help reduce bad cholesterol levels in the blood which can lower your risk of numerable diseases and illnesses.

According to ICMR recommendations, the Dietary Guidelines specify that the total fat in an Indian diet should be able to provide about 20-30% of total calories. The total fat intake in diets could go up to 50g per person per day based on the level of physical activity and physiological status. To maintain this balance is a huge challenge for mothers like me as kids these days dictate what food items are served on the dining table.

I prefer the trial and error method, where my little princess is concerned. However, the trials are only when I’m sure about the quality of the product. One of the staple items on the dining table remains MAGGI Noodles. Most mothers I know will repeal in horror, but did you really know that MAGGI Noodles strikes a fine balance between Protein, Carbohydrates and Fat similar to the recommendations made by Indian Council of Medical Research. This reinforces my belief in the newly launched MAGGI Oat Noodles that provide the goodness of oats, the happiness of health and oodles of fun.

Contrary to popular belief, one serving of MAGGI Noodles has a lower fat content than hugely perceived healthy food options such as a vegetable cheese sandwich or veg biryani or a dosa or an aloo parantha. Even the manner in which a cake of MAGGI Noodles goes through a stringent process of cooking prior to packaging ensures the quality of the product until consumption,

As a mother who is vigilant about the food habits of the family, especially a young child; I’ve given my approval to MAGGI Noodles and I suggest you too, do not believe invalidated information, do your own research and say YES to health.

Until next time,
- Heena
