How To Use Castor Oil For Healing

on March 16, 2026 / by

We often talk about self-care like it’s a luxury, something we’ll get to when life slows down. But let’s be honest… life rarely slows down. Between work, family, endless to-do lists, and everyday responsibilities, taking care of ourselves is usually the last thing on our minds.

I was no different.

For the longest time, I ignored the small signals my body was sending me. Fatigue. Stress. Skin issues. Hair problems. That’s when someone suggested something incredibly simple that has been used for generations: a Castor Oil Pack.

Honestly, I had never heard of it before, and it sounded almost too simple to work. But the more I learned about it, the more fascinating it became. Castor oil has been used for centuries in traditional wellness practices. Known for its powerful anti-inflammatory and detoxifying properties, it has long been considered a natural remedy to support the body’s healing processes.

A castor oil pack is essentially a compress made with cotton or muslin cloth soaked in castor oil and placed over the abdomen.

Here's how to use a Castor Oil Pack:
» Drizzle 2–3 spoons of castor oil onto a cotton or muslin cloth
» Place the cloth over the abdomen, ideally around the liver area under the right rib cage
» Leave it on for at least an hour or overnight for deeper relaxation

After incorporating castor oil packs into my routine for the past few weeks, I’ve noticed several benefits:
» Helps calm the body and promotes relaxation
» Supports the body’s natural detoxification processes
» Helps reduce inflammation and soothe tired muscles
» Improves skin hydration and elasticity
» Encourages overall balance and well-being

One important thing I learned is that the quality of the castor oil really matters. Always choose a 100% pure, cold-pressed, and organic castor oil to ensure you’re getting the full benefits. Sometimes the most powerful wellness rituals are also the simplest ones, small moments where we pause and give our bodies the care they deserve.

Have you ever tried a castor oil pack or any traditional home remedies for healing? I’d love to hear your experiences in the comments.

Until next time,
~ Heena
