As humans, the biggest mistake we make is believing anything and everything we read and hear. However, another problem lies in the fact that we fail to ask questions to understand better and resign with the thought that we can do nothing about it.

One such topic we are ignorant about is Palm Oil… believing every myth about the environmental and social problems, including deforestation, child labour, forest fires and climate change that have been formed over many years. However how true are these assertions about the world’s most consumed edible oil? I wrote in detail about everything we need to know about Palm Oil in an earlier article here.

In a webcast organised by the Malaysian Palm Oil Council, industry expert Bhavna Shah strived to create awareness about Palm Oil and debunked some common myths.

Myth #1: Palm Oil causes Deforestation
As per the latest European Commission report, deforestation can be both human and natural. Livestock ranching, agriculture expansion, logging, paper production, mining, urban sprawl, wildfire and climate change are among the largest contributors and the global share of palm oil plantation that causes deforestation accounts for only 2.3%.

Myth #2: Palm Oil requires large-scale Plantations
Palm trees grow on both large-scale plantations as well as small-scale family farms. Almost 40% of the palm oil production is undertaken by small-scale family farms, especially in Malaysia making it both poverty-reducing and economically progressing.

Myth #3: Palm Oil is Unhealthy
Palm Oil is a cholesterol-free and trans-fat-free vegetable oil with a composition of 50% saturated and 50% unsaturated fatty acids. It is a naturally reddish-orange oil that also contains high beta-carotene content, a natural dietary supply of vitamin A and E that help prevent chronic diseases and supports brain health.

Myth #4: Palm Oil engages Child Labour
Palm Oil is produced in a responsible manner that respects social norms ensuring a multi-pronged push via labour laws and effective implementation. Also with the farm-to-fork approach, each step of the cycle is mapped ensuring the policies are followed to make a lasting social update.

Myth #5: Palm Oil is only used in Food
Palm Oil is more versatile than any edible oil. It is used in almost all industries including personal care and cosmetics, biofuel and energy, pharmaceutical, industrial and many more. Almost all everyday products like food items, cosmetics, candles, soap, shampoo, detergent, biodiesel, and more than half the products in the supermarket have palm oil as an important ingredient.

Having said this, it is true that not all Palm Oil production is sustainable and produced organically. However, the attention needs to shift from the blame game to educating people.

Until next time,

A foundation garment like shapewear gives one a confidence boost when it comes to tight-fitting clothes and slinky fabrics. It not only helps smooth and contour the silhouette but also goes a step further to accentuate the shape. However, choosing shapewear that's perfect for your body type and lifestyle can be tricky, especially with the numerous styles currently available.

So here are the talking points which will help you make sense of this closeted clothing type:

What is Shapewear and what is it made of?
Shapewear is an undergarment style that helps create a smooth silhouette and sculpt your figure, particularly when wearing figure-hugging outfits. It often referred to as 'Spanx' after one of the most popular brands on the market, although they are sold by countless fashion and lingerie labels.

Shapewear has a reputation for being uncomfortable due to its compressive nature, but luckily, thanks to advancements in fabric technology, things have changed in recent years. One thing that hasn't changed is the role of such undergarments, they are built to make your clothes fit better and improve your confidence, whether you wear them every day or on special occasions.

In the wholesale shapewear world, Shapewear is dominated by two textiles namely elastane (spandex) and polyamide (nylon) that highlight the magical relationship between compression and comfort. Styles with strategically placed seams and intricate panels offer noticeable lifting and shaping, from soft shaping to firm contouring.

Full Bodysuit Lace Trim Front Zip
Bodyshaper
Just as the name implies, full body shapers help sculpt the body contours, including the waist, hips and tummy. These bodysuits may also be extended with a panty up to the middle thigh for a more comprehensive look. While there are body shapers that hug the midsection as a whole, many may find this style too restrictive. The best full-body shaper is one that has a front panel which clearly pulls-in the concerned area.

Bandage Detachable Straps Zip Ultra Body Shaper
Open-Bust Bodysuit
The open-bust bodysuit is not designed with a bra and is ideal for those who choose to pair it with their own intimates, such as bralettes or bras with greater support.

Tummy Training Latex Waist Trimmer
Waist Trainer Corset
A style borrowed from the Victorian era, a corset provides extreme compression in the mid-section to accentuate a slim waist. There are two types of corsets currently very popular, the waist cincher and trainer.

Lace Hemline Butt Lifter High Waisted
High Waisted Butt Lifter Bottoms
A high waist bottom helps tackle three problem areas... it clinches the waist, tucks the tummy and snags the thighs.

So what kind of shapewear is the most versatile to own?
A full-body shapewear from HexinFashion is the best full-body shaper to opt for, as they are the most hard-working piece of the lot.

The lockdown has changed the way we entertain, especially with maintaining social distancing norms - heading out to watch a movie or a play or even go to an entertainment zone has become a huge no for us. One thing that has upped since, is consuming properties on OTT platforms. When the trailer of the ZEE5Club original series Bebaakee aired first, it seemed evident that it is a story of friendship, love, hate, revenge and much more between the lead characters Sufiyaan, Imtiaz and Kainaat. But as the series progressed I soon realised that it isn’t the run of the mill story that Indian audiences are accustomed to, but an extremely gripping emotional rollercoaster ride.

The three minute trailer of Bebaakee shows how the lead couple’s paths cross time and again leading to immense friction and eventually love. However a twist in the tale is seen with the entry of the second lead, that tests not only the love between the couple but also friendship.

As soon as the series launched on Zee5, I binge watched it straightaway. I have loads of reasons why this should make it to your watchlist, however here are the three most important ones, no spoilers here…

The Plot
Bebaakee is a story based on friendship between two high powered-super wealthy individuals who become business partners, and join forces as a family unit. Their sons grow up to take the business mantle forward, but the journey is derailed by the entry of a young middle-class girl with professional aspirations and unshakable grit. Soon the friction gives way to love, followed by misunderstandings and hate that asks for revenge. As the story unfolds over the 10 episodes (backlink to https://www.zee5.com/zee5originals/details/bebaakee/0-6-2909/episodes) , audiences will be overwhelmed with the twists in the narrative keeping them glued to the series.

The Performances
Bebaakee stands tall on the shoulders of Kushal Tandon who plays the male lead Sufiyaan Abdullah, a successful yet brooding young entrepreneur. In every scene he makes the audience feel the emotion he is going through, making the viewer part of the plot. When he says, “Deep down, you just love me’, gives me goosebumps. The debutant Shivjyoti Rajput as Kainaat Sahni is effortlessly convincing in her role as a girl who knows her mind and follows her heart. All the supporting cast including the second lead Karan Jotwani as Imtiaz Alqaazi have done an amazing job. The performances make for some excellent scenes and the show a delight to watch.

The Direction
Babaakee has been directed by Muzammil Desai, who has an enviable portfolio of work behind him, including some of the longest running shows on Indian television. With his experience he brings in some spectacular visuals, amazing background score and of course the ability to extract amazing performances. Being a pro at family dramas, Muzammil Desai has infused the series with the panache of the elite while keeping it fresh with young love, jealousy and revenge. With an IMDb rating of 9.3, this series is unmissable.

Kya es baachpan ki dosti ka dastoor badlega? Ya phir #DilKiHitchki banagi #Bebaakee?

Until next time,

The pandemic is taking a toll on the world causing death, illness and above all economic, social and emotional strife. But in these times, it is heart-warming to see everyone doing their bit to help others. The government has announced relief packages, corporates are taking up causes and individuals are being supportive.

While all of us are fighting the invisible enemy in our way, we must realise and acknowledge that it is disruptive for children, especially for those that depend on corporate initiatives and programmes for their growth and development. I’ve known about the Nestlé Healthy Kids Programme for some time now, it is a partnership between Nestlé India and seven universities. Nestlé’s #HealthyKids initiative has been committed to care, for a decade and in these times, they have kept up this commitment.

Nestlé’s #HealthyKids Launch and Expansion
The Healthy Kids Programme was launched in 2009 with a focus on raising awareness, among adolescents aged 10-17, about health, hygiene and nutrition. In 2014, Nestlé partnered with Magic Bus India Foundation to scale up the program with the same objective through the sports for development approach.

The approach focuses on using sports as a tool to educate the adolescents and encourages the idea of eating nutritious food and adopting a healthy and active lifestyle. However, with the nationwide lockdown for COVID-19, the programme has been tweaked to continue working on their mission and wade through the situation.

Stepping Up Their Game – Each One Teach Ten
The ‘Each 1 Teach 10’campaign was carried out with the idea that one person records a video of the proper hand washing technique and sends it to ten others. What happens next is that, each of those ten community sent it to another ten, and the chain of messaging continued. It was a smart use of technology; wouldn’t you agree?

It doesn’t end there! Visual messaging through posters, boards, books and videos were shared with children and community members, with an aim to curtail community outbreak. Nestlé’s team continued to purse their goals and mission. The team made special efforts to encourage their staff to continue the programme, virtually. Nestlé Healthy Kids Modules on health, nutrition and hygiene were uploaded on the ‘Magic Bus Academy’ a mobile based educational app. In addition, units on COVID preventive measures and safety guidelines were now a part of these sessions.

Using Digital Media to its Fullest
In areas where lockdown was lifted, face-to-face sessions were conducted. Whereas, in containment and red zones, the programme ran virtually. Digital media like WhatsApp and tele calling was used extensively to send out messages regarding the subjects. Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan training was given to the staff to educate them on the preventive measures.

What’s inspiring is their effort to draw markings in these communities and ensuring that everyone maintained social distancing. Results? Social distancing was practiced efficiently everywhere. Messages were sent on WhatsApp and phone calls were made to remind people of the importance of following the practice.

The staff and volunteers offered support to assist in the application of online ration cards and also walked families through the process of downloading, registering and using the Arogya Setu app. The team also sent out messages on WhatsApp on the benefits of this app.

The Door to Door Campaign
Personally, I loved the idea of the Door to Door Campaign that was carried out to demonstrate the hand washing and sanitization technique. What’s more interesting is that, the team followed community mapping and made sure none of the households were left out of the process. Every year, adults and the young come together and take part in various activities on this day. This year, however, it was celebrated virtually and proved to be a great success!

Assignments were given to the children on health, nutrition and waste management subjects with the intent of keeping them engaged and encourage learning despite their schools being shut. While doing so, they also emphasized the importance of physical and mental wellbeing. The efforts of the staff, volunteers and the entire team is highly commendable, where each of them is putting ‘another person’s interest above their own’.

No one knows how long this pandemic is going to last or how soon we will find a vaccine or even when everything will go back to normal. But I believe it isn’t going to take forever for things to get better. That being said, I am certain that we as individuals of the community can and will do what's best for all of us. So just like the Nestlé Healthy Kids Programme, let's plan for the future, work on it and not feel stuck in the present.

Until next time,

Washing milk and bread packets and groceries have become a routine now. With Coronavirus cases rising across the country, there is heightened anxiety and fear of catching the infection through surfaces of everyday objects. I am sure you must also be doing the same thing with whatever you bring home from outside. But at the same time, isn’t this an exhausting job to wash and sanitize all your daily use objects and food items using water, soap and sanitisers.

Wouldn’t it be easier if there was a quick-fix to this solution? The answer is yes, there is actually a convenient solution to address this problem. I just got myself a box-shaped sanitisation chamber that uses UV-C light to kill the coronavirus on the surfaces of everyday use items, be it your milk and bread packets, vegetables, fruits or other items like shoes, mask, gloves, mobile phone, etc. Whatever items you bring home, put them first in Orient UV Sanitech which uses a pre-set timer of 4 minutes to kill coronavirus with 360-degree UV germicidal irradiation so that the surfaces of all objects are uniformly sanitised. It uses no chemicals and leaves behind no residues.

As you must know that UV-C rays are harmful to human eyes and skin, therefore Orient UV Sanitech has been designed to operate in the safest manner. The UVC lamps start only when the lid is closed and also the metallic door prevents direct exposure to ensure user’s safety. Coming to the design, it’s a compact, lightweight and portable sanitisation box with a top-loading mechanism so that you can put the items for sanitisation inside it very easily.

I have been using the Orient UV Sanitech for a few days now and trust me, it’s highly convenient and safe to use. This literally gives me peace of mind knowing that I am not putting my family at risk of catching the coronavirus from contaminated objects. If you are interested in buying one, head to Flipkart and Amazon.

Head to the website to know more about UV Sanitech, and checkout this video to know how it works!

Stay Safe!

The mantra for feeling beautiful is to actually love yourself first; no matter how you look. However if you do like what you see int he mirror, with a little bit of what if’s, you can take help of fashions biggest invention - the shapewear.

A good shape wear helps contour your body to give it a good shape to hid the little inconsistencies to give you a brilliant look. Similar to what makeup does to your face, a feelingirldress.com shapewear does to your body. There are a lot of products out there which may confuse you and so I’ve curated a list of three main products you should invest in to help you flaunt your curves.

Body Shaper
The most popular Shapewear that women first try is the best body shaper that is intended to trip the hip and waist areas giving a toned and firm look.

High Waister
Another very common shapewear is the high waister shorts that are designed for everyday use that guarantee a smooth line through the torso.

Body Suit
The most effective shapewear that all women swear by is the best shapewear bodysuit as it creates a head-to-toe streamlined shape, minimising parts of the baby that look out of order.

Butt Enhancer
A not so common shapewear type, the butt enhancer not only masks the flag around the stomach and but also  tones the thighs, to ensure the derrière looks smashing in any dress.

Thigh Slimmer
The least popular of the lot, the thigh slimmer works just like the high waister that perfectly clinches the thighs to achieve a slim thigh look.

Now that you know the 5 types of shapewear you need to invest in, make sure you know which fit you want to opt for too. Shapewear can vary from really light to very firm fits, based on its built and the control you choose.

» Light allows for smoothness and shaping without much binding
» Moderate allows for a more elasticized fit due to the light control panels
» Firm allows a tight fit due to the non-stretch control panels
» Extra Firm allows a smug supportive fit with reinforced metal boning panels

Last but not the least, shapewear is not designed for everyday, 24*7 use, so wear it wisely.

The health and beauty benefits of Rogan Jaitun Oil commonly known as Olive oil are innumerable. Over the last few years, experts have harped on the nutritiveness however it has been used for over thousands of years and is said to be the secret behind Cleopatra's beautiful hair and skin.

This little fruit is naturally loaded with antioxidants, polyphenols and Vitamins A, D, E and K, R which when cold-pressed is retained in the oil. I’ve been using Nature Sure™ Rogan Jaitun Oil for numerous skin and beauty DIY treatments at home. Here are some of the ways you can use the oil to get the hair and skin you are aiming for:

Pre-Shampoo Hair Mask: Warm the oil in a microwave or hot water for a couple of minutes and then apply on the scalp, hair roots and hair ends. Warm a warm towel on the head for about 30 minutes and then wash hair as normal for beautifully conditioned, voluminous and shiny hair.

Lip Scrub: Mix a spoon of olive oil with a spoon of lemon juice and sugar. Let this mixture sit in a cool dry place for a few hours and then use it to exfoliate your lips gently in a circular motion. Use this every day to get fuller, chap-free and light coloured lips.

Tinted Moisturiser: Dot a few drops of oil with a regular moisturiser, (especially for sensitive skin) and generously apply the face on the face and body. The oil will not only enable to absorb other skincare and makeup products well onto the skin and body but also work its magic behind the scene.

Protective Serum: Spray some oil on towel dry hair before using hair dryers, blowers or straighteners to shield hair from heat damage. Not only will this help avoid any hair detonation but also ensure an extra-glossy finish that leaves hair feeling silky, shiny and smooth.

Make-Up Remover: Pump a few drops of oil on a cotton makeup remover pad and cleanse the face. The oil base grabs in all the product on the face, including the eyes to act as the best pre-cleanse product. Ensure to finish with a cream-based cleanser for a residue-free skin.

If there are any other ways you use olive oil for skincare and haircare, drop me a message and I would love to add that to the list.

Until next time,

Have you been spending too much time worrying about your hair and skin?

Are you trying to correct your hair woes with  shampooing it more often, straightening it more than usual, colouring it regularly? Then you sure are doing something wrong, all you need to do is stop and listen to what your hair is saying. For every girl no matter what the hair texture is, the length is, the type is; has her own set of unique hair problems. And the only goal is healthy gorgeous hair. In this article, I shall cover some of the most common hair woes and the easiest and simplest way to overcome them.

Hair Fall: Usually, hair fall of 50-100 strands a day is normal, however, if it is more than that; it becomes an issue which may be caused by multiple factors including dry scalp.

Hair Breakage: Over a period due to hair abuse by repeated styling and treatments, hair becomes dry and brittle making it extremely fragile and prone to breakage.

Grey Hair: One of the major concerns for hair is greying which is the result of reduced melanin in the scalp and hair shaft. This could be age-related or due to hair abuse.

Dry Hair: The number of treatments like bleaching, perming or over-exposure to the sun, wind, salt or chlorine-filled water, makes hair dull and brittle and dry.

Oily Hair: Sometimes there is a build-up of products on the scalp which in turn make the sebaceous glands become over productive and result in greasy and limp hair.

Frizzy Hair: When the cuticle is exposed due to dryness, damage, etc and the outermost layer soaks in moisture, hair becomes frizzy and unmanageable.

Dandruff: As the scary becomes dry, the sebaceous glands overproduce and hair follicles get blocked causing dry skin of the scalp to peel.

Split Ends: When the hair shaft splits into multiples due to hair treatments, sun exposure, etc and causes it to become weak and flaky.

Well, I did suffer from all of these issues one time or another and always turned to the age-old formula of oiling my hair. The benefits of oiling cannot be stressed enough, from reviving lifeless tresses, to mending damaged ends to even stress relief. However, the most important benefit of oiling is that it strengthens the hair by increasing the tensile strength of the hair thereby preventing hair fall and hair breakage. This enables to stimulate hair growth while hydrating and nourishing it from within, preventing dullness, dryness and frizziness.

So the next important and relevant question in your mind will be ‘Which hair oil should I use?’. The simple answer to that is, ‘Since each oil has a unique blend of benefits, pick what concern areas you need to tackle’. But why pick one when you can pick all of them with Nature Sure™ Hair Growth Oil.

Nature Sure™ Hair Growth Oil is a highly effective combination of ‘herbs of choice’ including sesame, trifla, bhringraj, neelibhringadi and mahamohi. The oil is perfect for treating hair loss while promoting hair growth via stimulating the hair follicle and restoring the health of hair and scalp. Gentle massaging the oil onto the scalp increases circulation with more blood flow to the hair follicle controlling moisture and preventing dryness. The oil also protects from harmful UV rays and shield hair from pollution, chemical and undesired elements. Additionally, the mix of herbs has powerful anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties which make it possible to treat dandruff, lice and scalp flakiness. The regular use of Nature Sure™ Hair Growth Oil prevents premature greying of hair, treats split ends and maintains the strength and health of hair.

I’ve picked Nature Sure™ Hair Growth Oil for hair that looks visibly healthier, thicker and shinier, my picture-perfect hair!

Recently I did an Instagram live with a beauty expert and realised that most of us have no freaking idea what sequence to follow for our skincare routines. Yes, I indeed did a few things incorrectly too, and honestly, how the hell does one know. But the discussion did reinforce my belief in the fact that if used incorrectly no matter what product you use, it becomes ineffective to the tune of actually causing harm like pigmentation, fine lines and acne.

Skincare Routine To Follow For A Glowing Face - https://www.iCynosure.in

So without further ado, here is the routine you must follow for a healthy glowing face.

Step 1: Cleanser
The first step for all beauty routines is and will always be to wash your face so that the skin is ready to accept and absorb products that are to follow. Use a make-up remover in an oil base and follow it with a cream-based cleanser for a residue-free skin.

Step 2: Toner
Cleansing is usually followed with prepping the skin for the next steps with a BHA or AHA based toner that works its magic to unclog pores, prevent breakouts and dissolve blackheads. Pick a toner that feels gentle and light on your face.

Step 3: Serum
Serums are like an instant boost of nutrients, hydrators, and antioxidants that amp skin health as soon as applied. Pick a serum enriched with Vitamin C that protects the skin from inflammation and damage caused by free radicals, while brightening skin and lightening dark spots.

Step 4: Eye Cream
There is a huge debate whether to apply eye cream before or after moisturisers, but for it to work its magic, eye cream is to be applied before any cream and oil so it can penetrate through the skin easily without any barrier. Pick an eye cream that is hydrating to repair the skin barrier.

Step 5: Spot Reduction Cream
Spot treatments are usually most ideal to use at night but if you plan to use it during the day too, pick one with Vitamin B3. It is crucial to dab just a tiny bit over the problem area and then wait for it to dry out (about a minute) before the next step.

Step 6: Moisturizer
You must use a moisturiser, always (even if you do not use any other product) as it is the only barrier that will keep the radicles out and keep your skin healthy and hydrated. Use a light, gentle hyaluronic-based moisturizer with SPF 30. Let it sit on the skin for a few minutes before the next step.

Step 7: Retinol
No matter what skin healthy you are at, using a Retinol will enable your skin to speed up cell repair, thereby ensuring you always have fresh, smooth, wrinkle-free skin. With retinol be prepared for a long haul as it takes almost 3-6 months to show the difference as it works from within.

Step 8: Facial Oil
Using a facial oil is an important part to seal in the products already applied on the face to keep them from evaporating. A facial oil penetrates through the layers of products, to unclog and fill enlarged pores, heal stretch marks and prevent loss of elastin and collagen.

Step 9: Sunscreen
After the products are sealed in, you must use sunscreen as a protective layer against all free radicals in the environment. Even if your moisturiser or your make-up product has any sunscreen, do not step out during the day without any sunscreen.

Skincare Routine To Follow For A Glowing Face - https://www.iCynosure.in

I, for one, cannot contemplate all these daunting steps every day and so for steps 5-8 I opt to use one single product, Nature Sure™ Pores and Marks Oil. The Pores and Marks oil is an amazing moisturiser that unclogs and fills enlarged skin pores, heals stretch marks and prevents loss of elastin and collagen. This luxurious oil has one of the highest nutritional contents that penetrate deeply into the skin, including Vitamins A, B, C, D and E, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, silica and zinc. This beauty wonder has oleic acid content as high as 72%, which makes it one of the best skin moisturisers in the world.

However, if you still decide to follow the 9-Step skincare formula, remember the rule of thumb is to apply the lightest product first and the heaviest last, since thinner products can’t penetrate thicker products. And for those who remain confused, the best way is to pin or save or screenshot this article, whatever works for you.

Until next time,

Kalonji or Nigella, commonly known as Black Seeds is a staple in an Indian household. The tiny seeds are an interesting spice when used for tempering dishes as it adds a beautiful aroma with a hint of flavour to the final outcome. Though it is commonly used in everyday dishes like curries, vegetables, and even in samosa, papdis and kachori, very few realise that this tiny spice offers a host of health benefits too.

Kalonji is loaded with iron, potassium, calcium, vitamins, proteins and fatty and amino acids that help keep the heart, mind and body healthy. Here, let’s take a look at Health Benefits of Kalonji:

Controls Diabetes and Cholesterol
The biggest benefit of Kalonji is that it controls the sugar problem, whether an exciting one or a borderline one. Kalonji prevents the sudden spike of sugar level in blood and minimises other symptoms of diabetes. Regular intake also decreases cholesterol levels.

Boosts Memory
The most common benefit of Kalonji is boosting and sharpening memory thereby improving brain function. Memory loss and cognitive function inability in elderly people such as dementia, alzheimers etc. can be prevented by a regular intake of Kalonji.

Improves Vision
The unknown but very vital benefit of Kalonji is improving and enhancing vision. As Kalonji is rich in many essential vitamins, it can instantly cure eye-related problems such as redness and watering. Upon regular intake, Kalonji is known to reverse vision deterioration and prevent cataract and such.

Reduces Inflammation
The popularly known benefit of Kalonji is reducing chronic inflammation. Kalonji contains an active compound called Thymoquinone, which helps to reduce swelling and inflammation that can lead to severe health disorders.

Protects Liver
The most crucial medical benefit of Kalonji is protecting the liver. The liver is the important organ that performs tasks like removing toxins from the body, metabolising drugs and processing nutrients. Kalonji is known to protect the liver from an injury or any kind of damage while improving efficiency.

Isn’t that simply awesome for a small little seed to do?

So then why not including it in the daily lifestyle, to rake in all these benefits. The easiest way to consume it is taking a teaspoon of Nature Sure™ Kalonji Tail in a cup of black tea or pop a kalonji black seed tablet. These tablets are made with pure and natural ingredients and contain 300mg of 100% pure extract of Kalonji. According to many ancient scriptures including the ayurveda, daily intake of these tablets help strengthen the body from the inside, protect it against several health risks, provide antioxidants and purify the blood.

Apart from these benefits, Kalonji also has a host of beauty, skin and hair benefits, which I shall list out in another article.

Until next time,

A new mom is nothing short of a super-women, she cares for her newborn and her family and also ensures her work commitments are up to the mark. But does Motherhood self-care feature as a priority? Hahahah nope, that sure is a distant dream. For me too, it was and is the same!

After both my babies, I had absolutely no time to care for myself. I let myself go and was very unhappy with the way my body was healing, or more so not healing, especially after my second baby. And that’s when my mother-in-law pushed me to try something she did years ago - a Castor Oil Pack.

I had never heard about a castor oil pack, and so a discussion followed.

So, in her words, castor oil is one of the simplest and least expensive treatments that has been around since forever and has been used by goddesses and queens for holistic healing, especially postpartum. One can make a castor oil compress at home using rectangle pieces of cotton or muslin cloth similar to the image below.

The best way to use a castor oil pack is:
» Drizzle 2-3 spoons of castor oil on the inside of the compress
» Wrap the compress under the right rib-cage over the liver
» Leave it in place for a at least an hour or for best results overnight

After using it for the last month or so, I can easily say that castor oil packs help:
» Rebalances stress hormone cortisol and promotes feel-good hormones
» Resets the bodies’ cleansing mechanisms and high antioxidants
» Helps with progesterone and estrogen and creates happiness
» Reduces inflammation, microbiome and breaks down biofilm
» Soothes dry skin while acting as a natural anti-ageing formula

The most important thing about this pack is the quality of the castor oil. I have been using Nature Sure™ Castor Oil that is 100% natural and organic. The Nature Sure™ Castor Oil is especially manufactured to help lactating mothers promote blood circulation and restore the body’s natural capacity for breast milk secretion. It is important to know that a castor oil pack is not recommended during pregnancy but is safe during breastfeeding.

Practice Positive Parenting During Lockdown - iCynosure.in

One request that I hear every day is, “Mom can we go out for a bit please, just for a few minutes’. And this tears my heart up. No child deserves this isolation, especially those who are extroverts and thrive in company. Heer is that child.

She graduated to Grade 4 and was to stand for the primary school prefect elections, her ballet group was to travel abroad for a performance and she wanted a huge unicorn-themed swimming pool birthday party this year. She does ask me whether any of these will be possible this year, but I think in her heart she knows the answer. She does put on a happy face, but I know she is upset about not being able to do any of these things this year, as she had been looking forward to these milestones.

As an adult, I find it extremely important yet equally difficult to adjust to this new normal and can only imagine what a child may be feeling…. I have discussed this extensively with experts to ensure I do the best I can to reassure my kids that this is just a passing phase and a new experience for us all and we have to ride this tide together. And from these conversations and discussions, I’ve ensured I do a few things with Heer almost on a day-to-day basis, which has helped us weather this storm as a team. I would love to share these small tips with you that have made a huge positive impact on our household.

Talk to her about what is going on…
Children are more susceptible to information that we credit them for, and so it is the best to give in to the curious minds and feed in the right information rather than having them wonder about what's going on. As they feel unnerved, vulnerable and even unsure; it is an opportune moment to answer their question and reassure them about the future.

Accept her emotions and behaviour…
Children have more to lose during the lockdown than us, their entire life in a way has been uprooted and a new normal is being set, which is not easy to fall into. Little things like going to school, playing with friends, heading out for classes, etc matter to them as much as work matters to us. So be empathic and help them understand their loss and accept related behaviour.

Set a new routine for her…
Of course, the new normal demands a new routine, so the best way to ensure that each day doesn’t end up like a marathon or a war-zone, create a new timetable for them to follow. Discuss with them what they would like to do and create a mix of independent and group activities including school work, playtime, screen time and more to ensure they are physically and mentally healthy.

We are all experiencing the lockdown for the first time, and we all are trying to cope in our ways, and learning as we go. You may falter at times, but don’t be hard on yourself and most importantly don't be very strict towards the kids. Follow the rule 'Ignore else Forgive', because every child is going to make a mistake or behave badly or throw a tantrum or just be a child.

When you are overwhelmed with all the responsibilities and work that's been thrown at you, just remember the little one who you held in your arms the very first time and promised to care for no matter what. Put that promise to work today.

Until next time,
~ Heena

Over the years, my skincare regime has been a simple CTM routine with my trusted brand products that are organic, natural and cruelty-free. However, difficult times call for extreme measure and this lockdown has proved to be one of those times. Though overall my skin health is pretty good, recently I had next-to-no time for my skincare, with all the added responsibilities and work at home during the lockdown.

Last month I noticed some pigmentation and dehydration patches on my face, so I had to go beyond the regular skincare routine of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing and opt for a unique product - the Fasderma Glow Peel.

Fasderma Glow Peel Review - https://www.iCynosure,in

I usually stay away from facial peels, for the fear of skin deterioration due to the pulling and tugging, but a close friend recommended it and I ordered Fasderma Glow Peel in 15ml to give it a shot. The product claims not only skin rejuvenation over time but also instant skin glow.

So after a quick patch test on my arm, I decided to try it. I started with the basic cleansing my face with a normal face wash after which I applied a protective cream on the sensitive areas around the eyes, nose and lips. Finally, I squeezed out a small amount of the product onto your fingertips and applied a thin even layer on my face and neck. After about 15 minutes I neutralized the peel using water and washed it off. I soothed my tender skin with an aloe-based moisturizer and completed it with an SPF 30 Sunscreen.

The entire peel took about 25 minutes to complete, and though I felt a little tingling sensation, it was bearable and not very unpleasant. But in case if the product feels unbearable or unpleasant, it is advised to rinse off immediately with cold water, run ice on the face and apply a soothing cream immediately. I used the product once every week for almost a month now, and so I can tell you exactly what I think about the Fasderma Glow Peel.

Fasderma Glow Peel Review - https://www.iCynosure,in

Well firstly, I will now definitely order the Fasderma 60ml bottle. The next thing is that regular use has helped with skin tightening as well as skin brightening. Since the skin is super smooth now, it is easier to maintain, as regular skincare products are absorbed better and makeup blends in better. Of course, the skin may feel a bit dry, which in my opinion is normal after any face care treatment, and so be generous with your moisturizers and day-night lotions. Also, since the skin is rawer, it is imperative to use sunscreen after using the peel whether you are heading outside or are cooped up indoors.

Last but not the least, the price point may look discouraging to a few, but remember that it is better to use one product that gives you the skin you want to be in, rather than dump numerous products on your skin and not achieve the desired results. All in all, Fasderma Glow Peel is nothing short of a Celebrity Skin Secret Formula that you must try for a healthy and glowing face, so click here to buy right away.

Until next time,

5 Ways To Manage The Period - www.iCynosure.in

2000’s is a good time to be a girl. You can do almost anything your heart desires. It is also a time you can talk freely about topics that were taboo a decade ago, like ‘the period’. Everyone is now not only openly talking about menstruation but also demanding reforms with regards to feminine hygiene products and services.

It is indeed revolutionary to see these changes and help each other deal with and manage ‘those days’ to live a healthier life. Women have used alternative methods of menstrual management to cope with periods, some which are easy and convenient for everyone, while some are more discreet and less wasteful. Here are 5 ways to manage your period:

5 Ways To Manage The Period - www.iCynosure.in

Sanitary Napkins
Sanitary Napkins are the most tried, tested and used option to manage periods. Different pads are available for different absorbency needs, suitability, comfort and accessibility. Today there are numerous options available, however I recommend the everteen® Neem & Safflower Pads for heavy flow days and the everteen® Skin Thin Pads for light flow days. The cotton sanitary pads are perfect for quick absorption, ventilation, and they prevent odour and restore the vaginal pH balance.

Tampons
Tampons are the most discreet way to manage periods. Girls prefer tampons as the little plugs fit inside the intimate area absorbing the blood making them cleaner and less messy. The everteen® Applicator Tampons are perfect especially for active lifestyles, that adjust perfectly to your shape, giving superior leak protection. The best part is that you can wear clothes of your choice even during periods without any embarrassment or pad lines showing up.

Menstrual Cups
Menstrual Cups are the safest, easiest and healthiest way to manage periods. Girls prefer this more innovative, modern yet discreet and eco-friendly alternative to make life simpler while picking a sustainable and cost-effective option.

Period Sponge
Period Sponges are similar to tampons, but a more flexible way to manage periods. Girls opt for period sponges as they are not only more easier to use but also reusable for upto a year. However, sponges can get a bit messy while taking off.

Period Underwear
Period Underwear is the newest way to manage periods. Girls trial with period underwear as it is designed similar to regular underwear with a built-in blood collecting layer. There are two types of period underwear - one that can be washed like regular underwear and reused while the other is a disposable one that is perfect for one-time use.

So in a nut-shell managing your period can be a different experience for us all. Since there are multiple options available, you can better customise the solution keeping in mind what’s most important for you - convenience, comfort, price, and more. And always remember that your period is a sign your body is working healthily and just as it should.

Do let me know in the comments which according to you is the best product to manage your period.

Until next time,

Which Intimate Care Product is Right for You? - www.iCynosure.in

Every woman is different and so are her intimate care needs. The formula one-product-fits-all doesn’t hold true when it comes to intimate care; and so it is really important to understand your needs and pick a product that suits your lifestyle.

I’ve found these two products, and I use them both as and when the situation demands. And what should you pink? Well there is no magic quiz that you can take to know what will work for you, but I suggest you give each of the two products a try and then work out on what makes your intimate area healthy and happy. And it is quite possible that just like me, both these products will be right for you too.

Intimate Wet Wipes
Intimate Hygiene Wipes provide relief from intimate discomfort while keeping the area fresh and clean. I've used and highly recommend the everteen® Intimate Hygiene Wipes that are made of 100% natural and biodegradable cloth, natural plant extracts and water making them clinically and dermatologically safe and approved. The mild formula is entirely free from alcohol, SLS & parabens and each wipe is wrapped individually for convenience.

Intimate Foam Wash
Intimate Washes are specifically designed to help maintain the pH balance of the intimate area. I've used and highly recommend the everteen® Natural Intimate Wash that help prevent unpleasant odour, vaginal itching, dryness and skin irritation and protect natural pH flora. The product is available in two variants - for Moms with Witch Hazel extracts and for Teens with Yogurt.

Although these two are just a simple way  to achieve  better intimate care, they are a good start. As you understand your body better, bring in more products to care for  your intimate area.

Until next time,

This I love playing games, and this lockdown has heightened my online gaming to a really different level. Though I’ve never explored online casino games before as I thought it was illegal in India, but I’ve got to know that there is no ban on international sites. Numerous sites offer online casino games, including slot machines, blackjack, roulette and poker; while some offer the classical arcade games too.

The scope of games in the online world is limitless with a host of choices that are available 24/7, 365 days a year, where one doesn’t have to wait for a seat, make smaller stakes by making a deposit to play. It’s also a standard practice for online casinos to offer casino bonuses when a player signs up int he range of 40-200% of the deposit amount. Bonuses are incentives provided and can be in numerous forms such as free spins, on-site cash or gifts.

To know more visit source https://www.indiacasinos.com/bonuses.

As I set out to explore the world of online casinos, here are three of my favourites games I love to play whether at a Diwali party or in a brick-and-motor casino in Goa or on an online portal:

3 Card Poker
The most simple card game is poker, where you have to use three cards to make a hand. Once the cards are dealt, players compete against the dealer to see who has the best 3-card poker hand. Bet depending upon the cards, especially if one has a Straight Flush or Three of a Kind.

Blackjack
The most popular card game is blackjack, where you have to use the face value of cards to add up to 21 or as close without going over. Once the cards (2) are dealt, the player can either ‘Hit' to ask for another card or ‘Stand’ to hold your total and play. Many Blackjack variations are currently played to add even more fun and intrigue to the game.

Baccarat
The most fun card game in baccarat, popularised in James Bond movies, where the dealer deals cards (2) face up, two each for the player and banker and whichever hand totals closest to nine wins. The player can bet depending on the first cards that are dealt.

I play these games regularly with my family at home, but I’ve now upgraded to play these online, to discover a new form of entertainment. However one must remember that playing online casino games can be addictive and it is important to keep the playing habits in check.

Also if you are interested in exploring online games, check the local Indian laws and regulation before spending time and money, playing. And remember no one will always win, however the fun is in the playing.

Until next time,

Proper hygiene is extremely important for a woman’s health, and more so ever of the intimate areas. Having said this it is also important to understand that intimate hygiene is different from regular hygiene and we should adopt some dos and don’ts to ensure that the intimate area is well-maintained.

So what really is intimate hygiene? The intimate areas have an acidic pH value that is more acidic than the rest of the body, which makes it self-cleansing. When proper intimate hygiene is followed, the pH balance is maintained and you will have a healthy and happy intimate area. Just like menstruation, intimate hygiene is an equally taboo subject and very few women speak about it or offer tips. However, here is a ready reckoner to know everything you need to know about intimate hygiene:

Use Clean and Dry Undergarments
Wet and dirty undergarments can not only lead to bad odour but also infections. So no matter what age you are, the very basic requirement for intimate hygiene is to use clean and dry undergarments.

Maintain Period Hygiene
Women who have normal blood flow should change the period product they use every four-six hours. The same rule should apply to the days when you have a light blood flow. Additionally it is important to wash the intimate area after every toilet visit.

Clean with Intimate Wash
It is advisable to use products specifically made for delicate areas to clean your intimate areas to ensure not upsetting the pH balance. Products such as everteen® Natural Intimate Wash are actually developed specifically for your intimate area, that help prevent  unpleasant odour, vaginal itching and irritation and protect natural pH flora. The product is available in four variants -  you can opt for either the everteen® Natural Intimate Foam Wash or everteen® Natural Intimate Wash; else go for a specific product like everteen® Natural Intimate Wash for Moms with Witch Hazel extracts or  everteen® Natural Intimate Wash for Teens with Yogurt.

Avoid Tight Clothes
Wearing synthetic fabrics in fitted silhouettes can cause a lot of sweating due to reduced air circulation leading to growth of bacteria, years, etc. So it is advisable to use breathable fabrics that allow air circulation as well as sweat absorption.

See The Gynaecologist
Apart from regular care, having regular gynaecological checks is crucial to maintain your intimate hygiene and health. It is also crucial to undergo a Pap Smear every few years to screen for changes in the cells that may cause harm.

This is what I follow to maintain my lifestyle, I urge you to share these tips with all your friends for an overall healthy and well intimate area.

Until next time,
~ Nithya
