As Nilesh and me, we both long extremely long hours, and blogging takes up a considerable amount of my time; we find it extremely hard to plan our holidays. Thus when we come across any opportunity for a quick getaway we don’t think twice. Many times we tend to take busy holidays with a long list of must-visit locations and a must-do list of things, that we end up needing yet another holiday.

This time as we were in Malaysia for our work commitment at the same time, we went to the beautiful Heritage City of Melaka (Malacca City) and spend some quiet days in the gorgeous Holiday Inn Melaka.

Malacca is the most historical city of Malaysia, abundant with heritage monuments, landmark colonial structures and a rich cultural experience. The city is lined with numerous forts, museums, churches and towers that are a reminder of the British, Dutch and Portuguese imprints. As we started our journey to Malacca, we browsed through the pointers that would make our journey relaxed and comfortable…

Weather Conditions
The weather in Malacca is hot and humid throughout the year with spurts of rainfall between October and March making it an all-year travel destination. The average temperature ranges between 30°C - 35°C during the day and 27°C - 29°C at night. The weather is relatively warm during the day, so light clothing is recommended while it becomes cooler in the evenings and so a light stole or jacket is essential.

Moving Around

As a popular tourist destination, Malacca is well-connected by air and by road. The city also has immense provisions for local travel, where visitors have the option of renting private cabs or choosing from buses and taxis to the traditional trishaws to move around. One of the must-do things in Malacca is to take a trishaw ride that will put you in direct contact with a puller who is also a knowledgeable tour guide and knows the best places to visit.

Plan Experiences
Planning a weekend in Malacca can be a daunting task as the quaint city offers an abundance of breathtaking sights and rich cultural heritage. From an array of old and new, from historical establishments and old shops to modern architecture and shopping complexes, from recreational forests, animal parks to golf and jungle-trekking, from beaches and islands to theme parks; there is a lot of travellers can choose from. Numerous sites offer tours at low prices and fast and easy booking options.

Make Reservations
Accommodation options in Malacca cater to all kinds of travellers, with quality hotels that fit every need and budget. The hotels offer excellent services and facilities that will ensure the perfect holiday tourists are seeking. We booked our hotel the Holiday Inn Melaka that is centrally located and offers a great view of the Straits of Malacca, through Traveloka at the best rates with a host of other benefits thrown in. However, travellers have an option to choose from the most luxurious hotels to affordable family and boutique hotels.

After we did our homework about the city, one thing we knew was that we wanted our holiday to be relatively quiet and relaxing. The award-winning hotel Holiday Inn Melaka priced to be a perfect location for its contemporary setting with a gorgeous infinity pool complemented by a picturesque view of the coastline and the peaceful Tea Tree Spa to indulge and pamper yourself with a wide range of decadent treatment options. The best part about staying at the Holiday Inn Melaka is that it is strategically situated in the middle of the city and is within walking distance from some of the tourist attractions while the hotel provides a free shuttle to a number of attractions. We enjoyed our walks to the Portuguese Square, Taming Sari Tower and the main shopping areas of Mahkota Parade and Hatten Square.

So no matter what trip your taking to Melaka, make sure you spare a few days to relax and rejuvenate in the gorgeous city.

Backyard pools are something every family strives for. In a way, they are seen as a sign of prosperity and wealth. At the same time, you cannot deny how fun they actually are. Unfortunately, there is one big drawback to having one – they are very dangerous.

As an adult, you will likely manage these potential hazards and still be able to enjoy yourself. But, your child may not be so lucky. They only see fun when you mention a pool. Even if you warn them, they probably won’t take the pieces of advice to heart. Instead, they will continue running around slippery deck jumping in the pool in most absurd ways possible.

Because of this, you are the one that has to take the necessary measures which will turn your pool into a safe environment.

Fence It
You need to be extra cautious if you have preschool children. Infants are especially in danger as they can easily fall into the pool. No matter how hard you try, you won’t be able to supervise them all the time. This is why you should put up a temporary fence (at least until they grow up) around the pool. With this, you make sure there are no accidents of any sort and that a child can only access the pool with your immediate supervision. Even though you may not want to go with a fence, it is definitely necessary to create some sort of a barrier. Needless to say, pool covers are a must during the winter.

Pool Hygiene
Although this may not seem like a big deal, it is necessary to keep your pool in a perfect shape. At least once weekly take a skimmer and remove leaves from the surface of the pool. Also, you should scrub the walls and the deck from time to time. If you do not, algae will start appearing. First of all, they are bad for health. Second, they will make your deck even more slippery which in terms will increase the probability of an accident. Lastly, get a reliable pump. This item will do most of the water filtering. It is imperative for good hygiene and clean pool. Do not skim on the money when it comes to pumps. Click here to check some of the industry’s most reliable pumps.

Water Slide
Families with small children usually get a water slide. On paper, it sounds like an amazing idea. But, the reality is much different. Water slides are the second most common cause of pool injuries. If you think about it, even the regular slides which you can find in parks can cause cuts and bruises. Given that this kind of slide is in a pool environment, it makes it that much more hazardous.

Diving board
Unlike the pool slide, most homeowners are against the diving board. Again, it is connected to our preconception of the item. Diving from something does seem rather dangerous. And truth be told, a board can be problematic. But, here is the issue. Most kids love jumping in the pool. They will probably do this until they reach their 20s. Given that decks can be slippery, it is rather easy to fall and hit your head on concrete or a diving board. However, if you fall off a diving board, you will end in water, not on concrete. So, if you teach your kid to use board exclusively, he can still do his silly jumps but now with less risk.

Pools require a lot of maintenance. Also, precautionary measures need to take will change as your child grows up. All in all, there are a lot of things to be considered. But, if you have the will and resources, you will be able to pull it off and create a safe environment not only for your child but your family as a whole.

Ask a woman what really makes her happy and you’ll receive a prompt reply from her - splurging on fashion and beauty. The luxury literally rolls the ‘R’s off the tongue just as the French would drawl at the sight of high heels and designer dresses. However, I am one of the very few women who belong to the 'live to eat' camp, and thus my splurges are simple indulges in food.

Indulgence through food is one of the most vital parts of my existence; it soothes my soul and delights my eyes. However, I figured that the key to making this work is to give in to little indulgences while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The best way to indulge in tempting food is to start our day on a healthy note with some amazing breakfast options.

My mom had created a spectacular world of aromas, flavours and rainbow of colours over the years. However, I’m nowhere close to replicating the same and thus, I indulge in the next best option.
I experiment from pillar to post, century-old cafes to modern food joints to the classic sit down, and thereby, I bring you the five best breakfast places in the city of Mumbai.

Indigo Deli
The Deli has been on the list of must-visit places of numerous food enthusiasts. The breakfast spread is a delight with an ethereal combination of flavours, aromas and quality consistency. Pack in the waffles and pancakes, feast on the French toast and you will be making plans to come back soon.

Candies
The perfect place to indulge in international flavours, in an Indian way. Candies has been serving awesomeness for the last two decades with their regularly updated menu items of eclectic food creations. Fill in on their vegetable curry rolls and chocolate milkshake to kick-start your day.

Fat Man’s Cafe
An ideal place for the health conscious person, Fat Man’s Cafe offers a list of healthy breakfast items. Try the staple on the healthy menu or indulge in some great waffles and pancakes that make a complete perfect breakfast. The cafe is a visual delight that offers great food with a great ambience at a relatively decent price.

Theobroma
Don’t blame the British for the generation’s choice of the classic English breakfast of perfectly backed brownies, tea cakes and puddings munched with a smooth mocha. The breakfast served with baked beans, mashed potatoes and toast is the most optimum way to start your day with being rejuvenated.

Cafe Basilico
Catch the flavours of the Mediterranean and European palette at Cafe Basilio. Enjoy their freshly brewed coffees and teas, and bite into the freshly baked bread. A perfect spot to enjoy great food, blend into the Victorian culture while gorging on cream and spinach topped bread rolls and crispy English muffins.

So what really makes these particular joints stand out?
A very basic yet important factor - the exclusivity of the products offered. The type of filter coffee you will find at Madras Cafe is rare to be found elsewhere. Similarly, it will be impossible to savour at another eatery those very pancakes that were relished at Indigo Deli.

That’s what great brands do… Get you to indulge in Exclusivity.

Likewise, the limited edition Dzire Allure from Maruti Suzuki comes equipped with enhanced comfort features and promises an exclusive experience which welcomes you to a lovelier world. It’s premium dual tone seat covers, elegant interior styling kit, stylish body graphics and an all new metal will tantalise you and teleport you to a world of exclusivity.

Don’t believe me?

Atlantic City, New Jersey, has risen from its humble beginnings to become a world-class leisure destination. Today, this resort city is renowned for its casinos, its famous boardwalk, and its pristine beach. With its old-world charm and its big-city approach, Atlantic City is a must-visit destination for many travellers. Don't miss Atlantic City's fine dine experiences, entertainment options, shopping areas, first-class hotels and resorts, or nightlife.

How to Plan Your Trip to Atlantic City
Whether you're a first-time visitor or a frequent traveller, here are a few pointers that will help you plan your trip better. First, check the calendar before your trip. Most hotels and resorts offer discounts all year round to attract guests, but the best time to visit is between March and August.

Atlantic City experiences four distinct seasons. The weather throughout the year varies. so make sure that you pack weather-appropriate clothing. In the summer, the humidity warrants light clothing during the day. Pack a sweater for the evening, since the seaside breeze will cause the temperature to drop. Spring and fall bring mild weather, but winters are cold, so travellers should factor in winter wear.

As a top destination, Atlantic City offers numerous accommodation options, whether you're travelling for a relaxing weekend, a fun gambling getaway, or a leisurely spa holiday. Book a luxury resort right on the beach, an affordable hotel room along the boardwalk, or a motel to suit your travel needs and budget.

It's easy to travel within Atlantic City. Use the four-route public transportation system, which includes jitneys that cost as little as $2.25 per trip. You can also hire personal scooters or opt for taxi services that are easily available and capped at $13 within the city. Don't miss your chance to walk along the boardwalk, as it's the preferred mode of getting around the city.

Things to Do in Atlantic City
As you book your accommodations, start looking for some fun activities to do in Atlantic City. As an entertainment centre, Atlantic City has an impressive lineup of events and festivals all year long, including Atlantic City Restaurant Week, the Atlantic City Airshow, the Atlantic City Boat Show, and the Atlantic City Marathon. Get to know the city's history by adding some of these top attractions to your itinerary, too.

One of the oldest and the tallest lighthouses in the United States, Abscond Lighthouse is open to the public. Climb the 228 steps to take in breathtaking views of the Atlantic City skyline or opt to become the Lighthouse Keeper during an overnight adventure.

Historic Boardwalk Hall was built in 1929 to cater to Atlantic City's growing community needs. Also known as Convention Hall and Rendezvous Park, Boardwalk Hall was planned as a self-sufficient, multipurpose event space with exquisite views of the Atlantic Ocean.

The 'In the Line of Duty' sculpture serves as a tribute to all of the New Jersey law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty. This sculpture features a police officer in the image of Jersey City Detective Melvin Santiago, a police dog, and a kneeling firefighter to honour all first responders who have tragically lost their lives.

Atlantic City is known as a gaming capital, and it's home to several casinos. Be sure to visit the Borgata and Caesars. The Borgata is known for its 85-table poker room that hosts daily tournaments, while slots are the most popular game at Caesars.

So are you game for Atlantic City?
