ICynosure

Over the last few months, I've been attending numerous blogger events and it has been a fantastic development. I've been one of the most carefree, silly yet serious publishers of information being disbursed at the events, ensuring the right details reach my readers. However, I've noticed fellow bloggers lug around huge bags carrying numerous tools and when asked say those are imperative to being a blogger. And what strikes me odd is that instead of putting their hair down and enjoying themselves they sit grumpy recording, shooting and typing away furiously. I sometimes feel naive with just my small little handbag with no more than 5 things in it.

Just the other day I was at an event organised by a huge personal care brand with over 200 bloggers in attendance from all over the country. And yes you guessed it right .... all the bags were super huge. The meet was a bit different with loads of activities lined up a la 'Wipeout' style and I saw most of my colleagues shrug at the thought of carrying around their bags. Luckily for them, the PR agency got it all covered setting up a deposit counter for the bags. I decided to sling my clutch across my
shoulder and enjoy the games.

Soon we were divided into teams and I individually popped my team-members with the golden question..  "What all do you carry in that bag?" The answers were as diverse as chalk and cheese, but everyone had about 5-7 things that seemed really important to a publisher. Mobile Phone, Tablet/Laptop, Camera, Writing Instruments, Dongle, Video Camera, etc etc. made the cut into the handbags.

I wondered and peeped into my bag. Looking at the things inside I mentally ticked the boxes looking at one electronic gadget.
Dell Venue 7 Review
My newest possession, A Dell Venue 7

Apart from doubling up as a camera, video recorder and a laptop, the one positive feature that stands out about the Dell Tablet is its PocketCloud feature that allows remote access to my computer post installing client on the device and sharing files in cloud. Wow isn't that simply awesome?

During the entire event, I went crazy clicking pictures and videos, updating my twitter and instagram networks. Impressed with my social networking updates I was instantly rewarded with a beautiful product hamper at the event. While I could easily click pictures and videos while doing my designated team activities I saw my colleagues struggle with their devices. Given the fact that the Venue 7 doesn't weigh more than 300 gms and fits into my palm as easily, gave me the edge over the others.

I know most publishers when going for an important assignment never want to take chances and are always thinking 'what if' my phone battery dies, my laptop doesn't connect, etc etc. But why take those chances when a single convenient option is available. Especially when the product is pocket-friendly, armed with great hardware, functions on the best software, and the most important it has a good running ending battery life. Yes, you do need to charge it and that's a given for any of the products.

With the booming tablet market, the Dell Venue 7 is a great pick with its positive user experience, battery life and as a wonderful medium of social connect. So what are you waiting for? Dump all your multiple gadgets #geekchic and pick the only one you really need.

Until next time,

Last weekend it was party time with PrettySecrets at Sea Princess, Juhu. It was the launch of the Spring Summer 2014 Collection with some exciting things lined up for the invitees.

The Pretty Secret Store Launch

Though it was an entire day event, I rushed in from another product launch across town to witness some amazing stuff. I wore a super summery outfit by Bluebery DC to the event. Bluebery DC is a leading name in the global fashion and export market. Designer Shetall S. Khanna's new collection has been inspired by a combination of the bold tribal motifs of Mexico and the ethnic detailing like sequin embroidery and threadwork of India.

Shetall says, "In our Spring-Summer collection this year, the entire product basket revolves around the colours of the season, generating dark and vibrant echoes. The colour palette comprises of bold and bright patterns of Aztec prints."

The Pretty Secrets fashion show was simply outstanding and I instantly fell in love with so many of the products. While browsing through the collection at their stall I couldn't wait to head back home and place my next order with them.  After an amazing show and browsing through the collection, I was pampered with an awesome nerve relaxing foot massage while enjoying some cocktails and being mesmerised by an amazing performance of lead singer J. Clayton and his troupe. Just before calling it a day I had a wonderful opportunity to meet with the PrettySecret's team and the oh-so-sexy models. Here's a snapshot of all the fun we had.

The Pretty Secret Store Launch

I was super comfortable in my outfit, as you can see from the pictures and I did leave the accessories to a basic minimum. The dress stood out and did all the talking. And boy it talked, talked great. I loved the way the fabric felt against my skin and the fit was almost too good to be true. The colours ivory and purple worked wonders and I just couldn't get enough of the sequin thread-work done all over the floral design. Perfect for the summers. I cannot wait to wear it again.

What do you think about my look? Do leave me your comments.

IPL, The Saga Of An Indian Fan

Though Cricket is not our national game, it is by far the most loved and followed game in India. There will hardly be any household in the country that doesn't keep abreast with the ongoing games inspite of the various controversies the game has faced. It is the game that unites people of India wherever they are, whatever they believed in and whenever it is played.

But all changed as soon as the Cricket Premier League was annouced as everyone had their own favorite team. For me it became a battle between the heart and the mind. Being a Mumbaikar my mind was all set for Team Mumbai but my heart belonged to none other than Kolkata's Icon Player, India's most prolific, most amazing, most successful Captain Sourav Ganguly. In my battle my heart won against my mind and I became a Team Kolkata cheerleader in an all-Team Mumbai home.

The opening match of Cricket Premier League 2008 was what dreams are made of and my love affair with Team Kolkata began. However with the failure in the first season and the disheartening multiple-captain theory robbing my love of the captaincy honors my anger with the team management rose. And then just as I was losing interest, Ganguly was brought back the following year as the team's captain and I basked in his glory. Just as I was  gearing up for the fantastic following year, Cricket Premier League dropped a bomb. Team Kolkata gave up their Icon Player Sourav Ganguly and roped in the sensational Gautam Gambhir. I was in two minds of following him into Team Pune the following year or staying committed to Team Kolkata.

In all the tussle I realised my love for the team overpowered everything else and I stuck to my team. I cheered and cheered, screaming myself hoarse and losing my voice as well. And guess what I was instantly rewarded with the team reaching the play-offs that year. Just as a champion takes small steps to achieve his dreams, Team Kolkata worked towards the title and in 2012 we were the undisputed Champions of the game.

Exuberance, Energy, Enthusiasm and Entertainment are some words that define my team - Team Kolkata, the heartbeat of Cricket Premier League. It is by far the only team that brings thousands of fans together to enjoy a great game, unwind, relax and take a break from the routine of the daily life.

Sometimes I wonder how such an amazing group of people, champions in their own right would work together so seamlessly? I got my answer immediately when I saw the team players strike the right balance to hit the perfect notes to create a symphony of a game. Some of the things I like most about my team is that the team doesnt stop trying, never shies away from a challenge and out-performs to deliver a better performance, never giving up. The manner in which the team has dealt with criticism is impeccable and inspiring. Our team is inspired by appreciation, while criticism gives them an added strength to push the boundaries and seal the loop-holes. Though it is easy as fans to be disheartened by criticism and failure, we stand by our team and motivate them with our commitment and patience. We manage to see the shining light through each run we make while stopping each run the opponent takes. We do not win every match we play, but we live various emotions together. Whether it's a smile, a frown, a shock, a roar or even a cheer for us its all priceless.

Every year I fight tooth and nail to make sure I don't miss any of the Cricket Premier League Cricketing fun. Sometimes its sick leaves, sometimes its working from home, sometimes its client meetings when all the time it is all Cricket Premier League. But this year, it's gonna be different.
