Tata Motors Launches Tata Zica In Goa, Auto Review

When I received the invite for the Tata Zica Launch in Goa, I just couldn't hide my excitement. The only thing stopping me was leaving my little princess behind in care of others. But that’s when the man in shining armour came to my rescue and I literally ran out of the house to catch my flight.

Tata Motors Launches Tata Zica In Goa, Auto Review

The day began with a challenge when my booked cab did not arrive and I had to rely on the #Mumbai auto rickshaw to get to the airport; and that was the beginning of all things #madeofgreat. In a few hours I arrived at Alila Diwa in Goa. What followed was an awesome weekend full of fun, awesomeness and loads of surprises for all of us. Over the two days I had many experiences and here's what shone through:

DESIGN

The initiative taken by Tata Motors was a sure shot winner right from the onset. A program outlined for India's top 50 bloggers to experience the hospitality, technology, innovation all at once with a chance to drive the brand new ZICA much before the entire world can get their hands on it. Honestly I felt humbled and definitely most privileged to be part of such a wonderful pool of talent from across the country; flown out from our respective cities into the hottest location in the country, Goa to be treated like royalty is nothing short of a dream vacation. The activities lined up for us were not only informative but also exciting and fun to executive. What started with a warm informal blogger session with the team anchored by Anoop and then Cyrus, followed up by an informative Masterclass by a panel of knowledgeable experts.

Being able to hear the passion in the voices of the brains behind the marvel at a specially organized class was wonderful. The program though a bit tight in schedule was perfectly in sync that helped us get the best out of it. Truly Spectacular! A fun beach tour and dinner later off we were to dream about the Zica to wake up the next day to get our hands on the super sleek vehicle. With Flag Off almost on time, we began the drive; an exhilarating ride with what we do best; take up challenges and go crazy on social media. A mention is warranted for both the Tata and Indiblogger teams for an innovative approach to a blogger program and the way they strived to achieve excellence in the event flow is highly commendable.

DRIVE

Oh where do I begin? It was the moment all of us were waiting for, and after much wait it arrived early Sunday morning. A brief about the controls and the must try features and we were set to hit the road. It was a treat to try every new feature available. Switching modes, switching from the driving to passenger seats, exploring the vehicle inside out, stopping at scenic places to take pictures and super selfies and made it a #Fantastico drive.

With the Tata Motors social media fans throwing numerous challenges at the teams, it was fun to execute crazy tasks trying to outdo each other from time to time. Unfortunately as time began flying as a team; Prasad, Shifa and myself decided that we should concentrate more on the drive than just competing for the tasks and so we did about 10 of the 30 tasks and then just drove around to enjoy the drive.

CONNECT

The blogging world is all about relationships and what better way to connect than at a meet? What I really loved about the Tata Zica #Fantastico Blogger Meet was the way they brought the blogging community together to enjoy not only the product but also the company of other bloggers. The fact that we were referred to as the top 50 bloggers of the country brought wonderful happy smiles on all our faces time and again. Not only were Tata Motors forthcoming and helpful in resolving our queries, trying to fulfill our requests but also were willing to walk that extra mile to help us achieve the objective of the event.

Meets are usually organized by numerous brands but in a way that it becomes competitive amongst the bloggers, however Team Tata and Team Indiblogger both gave each of us the space, attention and the respect that we deserve. The meet has helped me connect with bloggers, Indiblogger and Team Tata in a very personal committed manner, strengthening our ties and forming friendships like never before.

On my way home, I was thinking to myself that Tata Motors should continue organising these meets. After all I've done the Tata Zest, Tata Bolt and now three times lucky the Tata Zica meet too. I had the most fabulous weekend, and you? Tell me what was #Fantastico about your weekend and I'll send some lovely Goa souvenirs your way.

Until soon,

Home Is Where The Heart Is, #ZoneWest's Amchi Mumbai

When someone asks me what my city has to offer I face a huge dilemma between two phrases that aptly describe the city of Mumbai. Ironically the ‘city of dreams’ is also the ‘city that never sleeps’ and thats what defines Mumbai so beautifully.

Being born in the nation’s financial, cultural and entertainment capital I’ve seen how dreams make this city tick. Some would argue that it is by far the most densely populated city, a far cry from what one would define as a suitable city to live in, the non-existent infrastructure and the chaos in the routine making it a nightmare to endure. But hang on, the benefits outweigh the limitations. Mumbai gives you what no other city can; a chance to live your dreams. Be it a millionaire driving past marine drive or a common man sitting on the promenade, Mumbai gives them the same opportunities to make life what they want it to be.

Mumbai is driven as a never-say-die battlefield, that pushes the limits with hard work, risks and persistence. The fact that the city has opened its doors to more than the traditional forms of education, employment and entertainment is proof enough to the testament it swears by to create a forward thinking, hands-on and life-loving experiences. The city allows you to be what you want to be, given that you have the zeal to drive continuously to put your dream in first gear.

Mumbai is designed as an all-inclusive dreamland, that gives you wings to fly and chase your dreams. The fact that the city is over-populated gives enough evidence of something special it has in it to welcomes people from all over into its fold and the moulds them from being expats to residents. The physical and cultural design encourages people to come together and share their success, happiness, fear and failure with the city’s out-of-the-way efforts and hospitality.

Mumbai is connected with an invisible thread, that reaches out to take a hand and begin a journey and go on to build the strongest ties. Just the manner in which the seven independent islands of Bombay came together to make what Mumbai is today, the city brings in all its diversity to become a gorgeous land parcel. The connect the city offers between dreams and actions, between ability and reach, between aspirations and paths is astoundingly real and achievable.

Mumbai is nothing like anything, because when I wake up and look out of the window I don’t see a crumbling palace. I see the ambition of drive at St.Xaviers, I see the beauty of design at Kala Ghoda and I see the business connect at powerhouses like Tata Motors. I've shuttled around the world, lived in four out of seven continents and experienced over a hundred cities but nothing comes close to Amchi Mumbai. Why? Because during the #ZonalWars the World becomes the body while #ZoneWest’s Mumbai beats as it’s heart.

Over a career span of 12 years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with industry stalwarts who have re-defined the professional mandate and grown exponentially.

I started my career with none other than the charismatic Prof. Uday Salunke who took Welingkar Institute from the 10 rooms in Ruia College to the magnificent campus that we see in Matunga today. With him I learnt to dream and strive hard to achieve the dreams. A step in the right direction got me associated with renowned architect Ratan J Batliboi at his design firm Eureka Moments that motivated me to learn new skills and commit to create great moments within the mundane. I learnt compassion and human services when I joined forces with the super-woman Sangeeta Jindal to execute a few of JSW Foundation’s sanitation projects in Tarapur; while working with the JSW Steel Corporate Communications department. Each of these managers and the numerous others I worked with, are exceptional leaders and forward-thinkers who help you achieve your chosen path of professional success.

However the person I want to talk to you about today may seem a little lost among the burden of these big names, he may seem unfamiliar amongst them. But he is my #madeofgreat. Emerald Sequiera, Head Corporate Communication at a pharmaceutical company; my immediate supervisor during my stint with the company. The one person solely responsible for so much I am today; in a competitive environment filled with mediocrity he shone through like a star.

He Inspired Me To Be #MadeOfGreat
Yes, I'm going to publish your picture and embarrass you.

As a leader he knew exactly how to mould young talent; I saw team-mates excel in their responsibilities, being awarded at annual functions and moving to explore better pastures. Over the three years I worked  learnt from him, I didn’t realise how I moved from being average to a star performer. When I look back today I know Emerald was the person responsible who took me from A to Z, simply by giving me a lot of responsibility always backed by decision-making authority and burdened by accountability. His willingness to risk important tasks by delegating to a junior like myself gave me the much needed push to excel. The most important part of his teaching came from every instance he stood up for me, when I failed or faltered. Never the one to let any of us team members take the fall, he had our backs covered all the time; not to defend us but help us learn from our follies. Not only did he stress on the importance of professionalism but he also was a great advocate of the work-life balance. As I moved out of the company in 2009, I did ask him about how he manages to do such amazing things with newbies to which he simply said that he was paying it forward; leaving a legacy of us to take forward. An unassuming-brilliant #madeofgreat man inspired me to find my calling and strive to be #madeofgreat.

Early this year I coined a little (mini) sonnet about what I felt for him...

Teachers I met and passed through,
But the only learnings have been with you.
Never a day dull at the desk as I knew,
It has left a mark, slowly as the days flew.

From a caterpillar to a butterfly I grew,
Shielding me from all the interest anew.
In fiery spirits, annual rebirths & moving on,
Working with you was the best bonus I’ve drawn.

Anything I write, anything I say can never be enough for the impact he has had in my life. He is indeed #madeofgreat whose brightness is reflected in anyone he interacts with.

I’ve found my #madeofgreat and so has Tata Motors in their new Global Brand Ambassador Lionel Messi; an icon for the youth today; a trustworthy, reliable, simple and self-driven athlete. I've told you my thoughts about my #madeofgreat not you tell me what you think of Tata Motor’s association with Lionel Messi?

Until next time,

The Tata family is moving from strength to strength. The household market they've taken conquered with Tata Salt and Tata Tea among other products, the hospitality industry they've floored with the Taj Group of Hotels, the luxury sector they've amazed with Tanishq and Titan. And the group is all set to storm into the Automobile industry; first with the Zest and now the Bolt.

TATA BOLT, A Car Perfect for Everyone

Last year when Tata invited Bloggers for the unveiling of the Zest in Goa, we all took one look at the car and saw a world-class product from the house of Tata Motors. With Zest’s amazing success story, the sedan has been followed up by a classy hatchback, the BOLT.

You will ask what a BOLT is. Some may describe it as a part of the lock that engages or withdraws from it with a key or a screw that fastens into a nut or a lightening accompanied by thunder. Well for different people the same thing is very different. However one thing for sure is that the BOLT from the house of Tata Motors will mean just one thing for anyone and everyone; PERFECT. You wonder what, you wonder how, you wonder why?
TATA BOLT, A Car Perfect for Everyone

Most FASHION conscious people like everything impeccably, everything that makes a statement and the Bolt doesn’t disappoint… Just like it’s inspiration the Zest, the Bolt has been accentuated with the DesigNext exteriors right from the sleek stylish body to the perfect shape and placement of the lights. The projector lamps and the smiling grill along with the Floating roof makes the vehicle look more alluring.

Those who prefer inner BEAUTY over everything else, the Bolt has so much substance on the inside you sure are to be immensely surprised.  The Bolt is infused with the ConnectNext infotainment system by Harman not just like the Zest, but a step ahead. Apart from the Voice commands, sensors, and an amazing music system, the Bolt is also enriched by voice navigation. Apart from the infotainment the interiors with ample leg room and rugby shoulder seats is a hit that’s unmistakable to miss.

Move over fashion and beauty, LIFESTYLE takes center stage here. With the DriveNext feature, all lifestyle enthusiasts will love the Bolt. Similar to the Zest, the Bolt offers a Multi-Drive feature that takes you from one mode to another in just a click of a button. Set at the City mode by default, the 1.2 Revotron petrol engine helps achieve it’s peak at 1500 rpm. Go Ego mode for a more fuel-efficient ride or go Sport when you want to race against the wind.

Experts who are more interested in the TRAVEL and don’t care about anything other than safety and size in the same breathe shall be amazed with this lean machine. The Bolt comes with the 9th generation safety feature of the Anti-Lock Braking System by BOSCH, along with Corner Stability Control and Dual-Airbags. One of the best features of the Bolt is the collapsible rear seats that increase the boot space nine-fold, but also the fact that the same can be used as a neat bed-space for overnight travels.

Oh no, still not sold on the Bolt. Worry not. For all those AUTOMOBILE and TECHNICAL junkies the Bolt gives you the best of both the worlds; Petrol and Diesel. The petrol offers a Revotron 1.2T Engine with a 90 PS@5000 RPM Max Power and 140 Nm@1500-400 RPM Torgue along with a Gear Box Speed of 5 MT. The Diesel on the other hand offers a Quadrajet 1.3L Engine with a 75 PS@4000 RPM Max Power and 190 Nm@1750-3000 RPM Torque along with a Gear Box Speed of 5 MT. The vehicle dimensions of LxWxH is a standard 3825x1695x1562 mm fitted either with Steel Tyres of 175/65 R14 or Alloy Tyres of 175/65 R15 and a Electic Power Assist Steering. All of that at an amazing price.

You think I’m presuming too much? No I’m not. Given the way the super-powered Zest was priced, the Bolt will be in a much more competitive position from its competitors not only with it’s world-class technology but also with it’s price mechanism.

TATA BOLT, A Car Perfect for Everyone

The Bolt fascinates -
~ the Fashion Blogger in me with it's spectacular sleek design
~ the Beauty Blogger in me with it's amazing interior health
~ the Lifestyle Blogger in me with it's convenient multi-mode drive feature
~ the Travel Blogger in me with it's impeccable safety and space
~ the Other Blogger in me with it's promise of quality, systems and pricing

So whoever you are, there is something that’s perfect for you. in the Bolt, and all those individual perfects the Bolt becomes a bigger and better perfect.

Do you agree?

The day began splendidly with the first cab driver I hailed said a BIG YEA to drive me to the airport. And that was the beginning of all things great. Interacting with India's F1 heartthrob Narain Karthikeyan was the icing on the cake. The program though a bit tight in schedule was perfectly in sync that helped us get the best out of it. This evening when on my way home, I was thinking to myself that Tata Motors need to do a Meet again on similar lines of DesignNext, DriveNext and ConnectNext soon again. Just as I said this out loud, I laughed to myself thinking that they just did it with the world-class TATA ZEST.

I had the most fabulous weekend, and you? Tell me what you did that truly did #ZestUpYourLife and I'll send some lovely Goa souvenirs your way.

Tata Motors Launch Event For Tata Zest In Goa

Since the time I was eligible to drive, I've lived in London… studying, working and then finally settling after my wedding. I loved to drive in the British Capital not only because of the systematic beauty of the perfect road manners but also because of the automatic drive.  Almost 99% people that I knew drove an automatic but the percentage back home in India is almost the opposite with everyone wanting the manual route.

When we moved back I had a tough time adjusting to manual vehicles and the crazy traffic conditions in Mumbai. Coupled with these factors, and the soaring petrol prices with an unavailability of automatic affordable versions I have practically stopped driving in traffic-laden Mumbai infested with rickshaws and scooter-bikes.

That's going to be true, until Now! Having experienced the newly launched Tata Zest, I can confidently say that my love-affair with driving is in its blossoming stage and shall soon be a full-fledged romance. Targeted at the young guns like myself, Tata has entered the fastest growing Indian car category with a much thought-out practical approach. Giving tough competition to its competitors like Maruti D’Zire (I sporadically drive this at the moment) and the Honda Amaze, Tata Zest scores higher points through various aspects of design, overall built, comfort, cabin, boot space and hopefully even fuel efficiency.

The three avenues that the team at Tata has based the new product and future launches on DesignNext, DriveNext and ConnectNext. The DesignNext exteriors have been accentuated by three prominent cuts and lines... The Humanity, Diamond DLO and the Slingshot. The DriveNext has been armed with a Revotron 1.2T that offers Multi-drive modes which could be enjoyed at the click of a button.

The exterior is a visible change, far away from the other cars from the TATA Garage. The external body looks well thought of with a sleek stylish exterior that enhances driver productivity. What I really liked are the placement of the fog lights and the daytime lights giving room to each other and the shape of the projector headlights which makes it look super classy. Even the LED tail lamps are highlighted with wraparound LED and a chrome strip. The highlight is that the vehicle isn’t compromised with small sized tyres, but are loaded with 15-inch alloy wheels that would enable great ground clearance. That is a blessing on Indian roads, especially Mumbai where no road remains the same after every monsoon and the potholes get bigger and wider each day.

The interiors are right in the league with all its competitors and even surpass popular features of some much-liked cars. The cabin is more spacious and the dashboard could give competition to the best in the industry. The cabin is comfortable for five individuals with decent seat and leg room at both front and rear. A positive improvement in the infotainment and voice command is noteworthy, powered by a Harman touchscreen with Bluetooth connectivity and 8 speakers. Voila that's my music room everywhere I go.... soft music for a romantic drive with my husband or foot-tapping numbers for when I drive around with my pals.

You have to give the credit to the engineers who I believe have put in that extra Zest in ensuring greatness under the bonnet as well as with a 1.2-litre Revotron engine. Though I’m not such a technical wizard, even I understand that the four-cylinder engine extends into an amazing torque aiding easy manoeuvring through traffic while aiding a quick switch between three drive modes – Sport, City and Eco.

MY ZEST EXPERIENCE
I drove both the variants (Manual Petrol and Automatic Diesel) in scenic Goa through a mix of smooth and rough roads and the drive was comfortable. Apart from the things that made me look again, things that really stood out for me are the first in its class stability factor with the way it is built with pronounced cuts and lines, the Revotron engine, a hard-baked steel body that protects during incidents and an above expected phone-voice integration. I loved the ease of altering between the multi-drive modes Eco, City and Sport at just a click of a button. When I switched on to the passenger seat, it was even more spectacular. The passenger seat is spacious and comfortable with enough shoulder and legroom in both front and rear seats.

The Zest is by far the most fashionable, the most comfortable and the most updated car in India today. The Manual petrol was a good drive with most of it smooth while the Automatic Diesel was a dream. Between both the variants, I personally felt that the Switch Modes worked better on the automatic version as compared to the manual version. Of all the modes, the Sport mode adds a zing to the driving experience with a five-speed transition and three digit speed limits that can be easily achieved. The two factors that would really influence my purchasing power and up the ante for the world-class product are the price positioning and the on-road and off-road mileage.

My vote would definitely go for the AMT Diesel as I have driven an automatic most of my life. Having said that, it is not the easiest thing to get along with and like everything else will take some time getting used to. But once I've had a hang of it, it will be a blessing in disguise especially in a city like Bombay to #ZestUpYourLife.

Until next time,
