Through the passage of time, you meet people that could turn your life around, who could be your family, teachers, people you look up to, or just about anyone. Life is full of positives; you just need to look in the right way with the right frame of mind.

Growing up in a house full of children is tough, but it is fun. However, my parents being professionals themselves were too busy to be bringing us up single-handedly. That’s when she came in, Preeti our nanny. Having heard some terrible stories about caretakers, we didn’t open up to her. As the days passed we slowly accepted her presence and depended on her for literally everything.

Being a nanny is kind of weird, if I think about it, now that I’m a mother. As a nanny; you spend the entire day trying to do things for someone else’s child, feed them, bath them, protect them and in your own way fall in love with them.

When I turned ten, I remember we went to our native place and I was lost in the village fair. For an excruciating few minutes I wandered around looking for my siblings, and when I saw them at a distance looking frantically for me, I ran towards them and threw myself at Preeti. It took me some time to realise that it was her who I expected to take care of me, it was her who I trusted to make right any wrong that may happen.

It was then that I realised that she was now one of the most important presences in my life.

Not only had Preeti masi earned my trust and love through her small special gestures inspite of my initial apprehensions but also my lifelong commitment to her through the personal relationship we had built together. I am sure she all had full faith and support of my parents as they left me in her care.

Today at a ripe age of 60, she keeps telling me that she is ready to go back home, but I insist that she is home, doing what she likes best, taking care of a little girl. Preeti masi not only had a huge part to play in my life but now she plays a larger role in my daughter’s life. As a parent, I don’t feel threatened by her presence, her immense love and affection for my daughter and the manner she is a ‘maa’ to her. In fact, she is the only one I trust with my precious #PrincessHeer.

Do you have a similar relationship that began unexpectedly and has grown to become that will last forever? The Exide Life Insurance’s My Money Book is one such relationship that we must nurture to protect our loved ones.

The truth about life is that it never gives you second chances to fulfil your dreams unless you go out of your way and grab every minute opportunity. Goals and dreams are to be achieved by determination, by recognising the need to experience and taking that step to grab the offered opportunity. Just as I thought about what I wanted to achieve, I realised that the only thing hampering my path was the financial constraint.

Nobody can go back and make a new beginning,
but everyone can start today and make a new ending.

With that Maria Robinson quote I've trying to explore avenues for earning an #IncomeKaTopUp and create an advantage of a double income which will help me chase my passion.

Like the saying goes, 'When you want something, the universe conspires in helping you achieve it'. I heard about Exide Life Income Advantage Plan, a unique savings cum insurance plan which works to the advantage of the policy holder by providing a guaranteed regular income and life cover. What is more exciting is that under the Exide Life Income Advantage Plan, the policy holder is required to pay the premium only for the first half of the policy term and enjoy the benefits of an annual income during the the entire term period.

Now just thinking about what I would do if I received an annual income from my Income Advantage Policy that ensures financial security…. Let me take a step back and ask myself, 'If I could do that one thing in life right now, what would that be without worry about money?'.

To this my response will always be…. Travel like a nomad to settle in a new land!

It’s great to holiday in countries around the world; but it’s a different thing to live in a different country for an extended period of time. With the former, what I get is a taste of how different countries and cultures are; with the latter, I get a full immersion of local culture and an inside view of it’s like to be a resident. What I want to do is the latter.

With an #IncomeKaTopUp a perfect financial planning, I would want to live a few care-free days, flying like a bird building a new nest on a new tree. A new place, a new environment, a new challenge to be a better person. Because I'd have to fend for myself alone, I'd have to make new friends, I'd have to get out of my comfort zone and make a living in a brand new unknown place. With an additional income I'd want to take the risk of getting out of town into a completely new place and reinvent myself.

Since I've just found that second chance I have to stand up dust myself, and invest in my happiness.

Just like every parent has a few shortcuts to deal with their kids, which save them time and patience, I have a few hacks myself. Over the last few years, #PrincessHeer has created havoc in daily routines and me being a work from home professional her antics ensure that I have a long to-do work list every single day. However, with whatever little parenting knowledge I have I try to balance both my worlds cheekily and sometimes get more than what I bargained for. Unfortunately, what I hadn't realised was that unknowingly I was pushing my daughter towards some very unhealthy habits; the habits that were hampering her overall development. Luckily my wake up call came early, when I was faced with the bribes, threats and even uncalled for tantrums to agree to the disagreeable.

Finally after some very crucial situations, loads of tears and screams I realised that there are no shortcuts to parenting. Let's take a reality check, does enrolling your child in a dance class make him a dancing star or does reading a holy book every night ensure a child grows up to be a god fearing teen? Does a child racing car win at home make him a traffic abiding citizen? I'm sure you all are shaking your head in doubt. Cause if there is even an ounce of this possibility, most mothers would have found the perfect recipe for shortcuts in life. However as human nature is so gullible, we tend to run behind the unachievable and I am guilty of the crime.

But one always need to face the truth and the fact is that there are no quick fixes to parenting or for raising perfect children. Giving them expensive things won't compensate for the time we spend with them or ensuring a smooth sail through without hurdles does not promise life successes. Just like we need to experiment with our learning and failures as parents without any #JugaadParenting we must also make sure we say #NoMoreShortcuts to how our children grow up as adults. Like they say, children learn more by visual representation to be a model to your child day-to-day and guide them.

As I promise to make smarter choices with well thought out plans to ensure long-term interest, advantage and satisfaction for my child I prefer long-term benefits with #NoMoreShortCuts and #NoJugaad to Exide Life's insurance policies that swear by their long-term financial security and happiness. With some excellent options in investment plans along with professional guidance, Exide Life should be a long-term plan for everyone so check all the investment policies and plan a long and happy life.

Life is poised at the beautiful juncture and from here on its all about bigger dreams and aspirations. So much to do not only for ourselves but also our loved ones becomes paramount; most of my dreams are centred around my little princess and my husband. Little by little the list keeps growing and wishes become wants that demand to be fulfilled. Sometimes categorization comes into the picture and some are on the Yes list and some go directly into the No list, while some are debated at the Maybe list.

Apart from the zillion things that I dream about in my life, a few of them have never remained unchanged over the last decade or so.

Take A Year Off To Go Back-Packing Through New Zealand
New Zealand has been my bucket list for a long time, and not in the traditional way of a fortnight in the tourist spots. I want to spend a year experiencing the local life, working through the communities of expats, and indulging in every opportunity the land offers.

Celebrating My Little One’s Big Day At A Romantic Destination

Given that #PrincessHeer just turned three and a wedding is nowhere close even in the mind, a mother’s heart already has a lot of dreams. A destination wedding in a romantic city like Paris or on a private island in Thailand with loads of ceremonies lined is being organized in my mind since the first time I held her in my arms.

Retiring Without A Care In The World

One of the most important things that I’ve always wanted is to retire financially sound and monetarily sound. Once we kick off the office shoes, I want my hubby and myself to be self-sustaining in every way. Be it wanting to travel, or a medical emergency or a celebration that arrives, we should be able to fund every stage of our life ourselves without having to depend on anyone. And an added bonus would be to leave a legacy for our children to cherish must after we have gone.

And to take these dreams from wishes to reality we need to plan well in advance both in terms of timelines and financial capabilities, just like this couple.

Money matters take precedent to everything else as your dreams are largely dependent on a well-planned life for a beautiful tomorrow. Sometimes keeping track of what you want and how you want to achieve them help in accessing where you stand from time to time; because Kal Khoobsurat Hai.

Plan Your Long And Happy Life With Exide Life's My Money Book

Exide Life has created a rooster of sorts to work in tandem to help you get to where you want. Exide Life’s My Long & Happy Life Scrapbook is exactly what it seems – a scrapbook to design your life the way you see it today; outlining your past, present and future. The second book is My Money Book that focuses more on the financial planning and security that you need to arrange in order to fulfil everything outlined in the Long & Happy Life Scrapbook.

The moment I lay my hands on the books, I started working on the scrapbook instantly. It is such a glorious thing to dream and design a long and happy life. What I loved about the ‘My Money Book’ was the systematic categorization of various aspect of financial planning and an organized approach to record keeping. Not only is it a simple tool that goes a long way in ensuring all the necessary details of financial transactions are available in one single place but also is a go-to instrument in case of emergency when the head of the family is unavailable.
