ICynosure

I’ve been a lipstick-addict for the longest time, and I can’t even remember when I first started wearing lip products. I’ve always been very careful about the type of product I pick for my lips and the must-dos for a lipstick in my vanity would definitely include moisturisation, pigmentation and lasting. I’ve experimented with lip tints, lip stains and long-wear lipsticks and lip glosses over the last few years. However now most of the lipsticks in my vanity are unintentionally matte finishes.

I have become so comfortable and selective that I just didn't want to experiment with the lipstick formulae until Oriflame’s launched The One Lip Sensation Vinyl Gel lip colour in 7 perfect summer shades. The range is a perfect gloss lovers’ paradise, with a gorgeous range of purple to pink candy colours that excite the princess in you.

As a regular Oriflame reviewer, the brand sent me the entire range to experiment with. The brand claims that the product is a super-light liquid lipstick that goes on like a gel, with an ultra-smooth plexigloss finish. The rich product formula is non-sticky with extreme colour coverage, glides on easily for super-slick lips with perfect colour clarity, while the conditioning formula keeps lips feeling soft and supple.

I’ve used gel lipsticks only for the first time even though they have been around much longer and I think I’ve started late. The One Lip Sensation Vinyl Gel lipsticks are moisturising and have an impeccable glossy finish. Even though the lip colours aren't fully opaque at first swipe, I could easily build them up for a sleek-sheer finish. All of the seven shades have a fresh, I’m-not-wearing-any-lip-product look to them. However, they aren't sticky at all. I truly like the light-weight application and translucent accurate colour clarity. The glosses apply effortlessly and don’t feather into fine lines making the lips look fuller. With all these amazing things going on, my only concern was the staying power, but the One surprised me with its staying power of close to 3 hours without having to touch up.

The Here’s how you make the most of The One Lip Sensation Vinyl Gel:
~ apply the lipgloss from the centre of the upper lip moving outward towards the corners
~ repeat on the lower lip
~ blot your lips with a tissue and reapply

It’s been some time since I’ve reviewed a lip product, and to think of it I have been using the Sugar Vivid Matte Lipstick in the shade ‘The Big Bang Berry’ for some time now. I wore this shade recently at a brunch and received a lot of compliments for its richness as well as queries about its formulation.

Sugar Cosmetics comes from the creators of Fab Bag (Vellvette Lifestyle), who have curated an amazing product through ‘Its A-Pout Time! Vivid Lipstick’ that is perfectly creamy and moisturising, and combines the look of a classic matte lip with the benefit of incredible smoothness. Enriched with micronized pigments and silica micro-beads, this matte lipstick glides on easily and settles to a gorgeous matte finish on the lips.

The Big Bang Berry is a gorgeous plum shade that lasts for a good 6-7 hours, and even when it starts wearing off it leaves a beautiful purple tint on the lips. It a great colour for Indian skin-tones and flatters the overall look highlighting the lips. I also love that the product has a creamy consistency that moisturises and spreads evenly onto the lips. It is highly pigmented and light-weight, providing maximum coverage, and most importantly it is FDA approved.

Overall it is a product that is light-weight while it’s long lasting and available for a great price. I really wish the brand expands the product range with more shades (it has only 4 shades at the moment) as I highly recommend getting one in your make-up pouch right away.

Here’s how you make the most of the Sugar Vivid Lipsticks:
§ Start applying the matte lipstick from the centre of the upper lip moving outward towards the corners.
§ Blot your lips with a tissue and reapply.

Streetwear
from the house of Modi-Revlon launched a new range of Colour-Rich lip-balms that are formulated to offer dual benefits of nourishment and sheer colour. In four trendy shades, the balms claim to turn chapped and flaky lips into smooth, shiny and add colour. Being high on shine and a soft gloss, they are perfect for everyday application. Launched in the hues of pink, peach, plum and coral the hoarder in me picked the newest shade of plum to review.

The first thing that delighted me was the gorgeous colour that the lippie came in, but it just doesn’t show as much on the application. I did however, try to apply a couple of times but then it starts to bleed and spread beyond the lip line. I like the texture that is pretty smooth and creamy and gives a gorgeous shine to the lips, giving an overall nude gloss effect.

The balm does the job of cooling and moisturising but nothing to hydrate the lips. All-in-all it is a decent product, but due to the fact that even the staying power is not as much re-purchase is not on the cards. Given the price point of INR 150, it is an average buy. The best way to use it would be to layer it with a lipstick like I did with the Sugar Cosmetics in a similar shade.

After using and reviewing so many lip balms as my lipcare routine I do have a favourite one, which brand is your must-have for lip care?

I loved the first edition of the Baby Lips in Electro Pop to the moon and back. And so I was looking forward to Baby Lips Loves Colour variants, calling it the Baby Lips Spiced Up range. The Baby Lips Spiced Up has been introduced in three variants; Berry Sherbet, Tropical Punch and Spicy Cinnamon. These variants have been tailor made for Indian consumers only. So here is what I think about the our newest to-be favourites, Baby Lips Spiced Up, lets #wipeToSpice..

Maybelline Baby Lips Spiced Up |Product Review And Giveaway

What's Maybelline Baby Lips Spiced Up range all about?
Baby Lips is the next generation Lip Balm from Maybelline that offers 12 hours continuous moisture. The product is infused with Coconut Oil, Vitamin E and SPF 20 that claims to protect lips when exposed to strong sun, wind or cold. The new flavours are specifically created to suit Indian tones in deep shades for a smack of translucent color.

What does the ingredient list look like?
Ingredients include polybutene, octyldodecanol, petrolatum, vitamin E, Shea butter, honey, candelilla cera, aroma, citrate, silica, parfumerie, etc.

What flavours is the Maybelline Baby Lips Spiced Up range available in?
The product is available in three flavour variations of Tropical Punch, Spicy Cinnamon and Berry Sherbet.

How is the Maybelline Baby Lips Spiced Up range packed and priced?
Packed in a twist up product colored cover, it is a cheeky packing that helps you pick the exact flavour you want from the three. The pull-out cover sits on the tube to fit with a click ensuring locking the product securely. This makes the product easy to handle and carry. Priced at INR 175 for a 4g product the use-by date is 36 months from packaging date which is really value-for-money.

Maybelline Baby Lips Spiced Up |Product Review And Giveaway

My experience and opinion about the product:
I loved the first edition of the Baby Lips Electro Pop (read review here) to the moon and back. And so I was looking forward to the Spiced Up version and it doesn't disappoint. I used the Tropical Punch and Spicy Cinnamon flavors and loved them. The balms glide through smoothly and sit perfectly onto the lips making them feel loved. The added feature of SPF 20 is the best inclusion that was a must, missing in the earlier version of the balms. Apart from doing what the balms promises, it also adds tint to the lips that stays on after routine day-to-day activities.

Two things that stand out in this product are its amazing moisturizing benefits and its super yummy taste. It’s perfect for days when you are in no mood for make-up and lipsticks just glide these on and you are set to go.

Product Strengths:
§ Delivers on the promises made
§ Added SPF 20 which protects against the sun
§ Continuous use ensures soft, supple, smooth and full lips
§ Gorgeous shades, beautiful tint and staying power

Product Weaknesses:
§ Nothing that I can think of

Will I repurchase / use the product again?               Definitely!
Will I recommend the product to friends?                 Definitely!

And since I would definitely recommend the product to my friends and family, why not give you all a chance to win a Maybelline hamper? So two lucky readers will take home some amazing goodies. Here’s what you need to do....

Do you remember earlier this year when L'Oréal Paris, India launched their Colour Riche Pure Reds Collection they invited bloggers from the city for a unique experience. We were pampered by ace Hair and MakeUp Expert, Namrata Soni and then photographed by photographer par excellence, Rema Chaudhary to reveal the shades of the collection.

That I thought was pure luxury and hardly any other blogger activity could be more fun and pampering. However I am so glad to say I was wrong and that experience was taken a few notches up by L'Oréal Paris,  last week. The folks once again invited the same set of bloggers for the launch of the new #CannesStars Collection with ambassadors Sonam Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.

I'm Marvellous Matte For L'Oréal's Cannes Collection 2015, What I Wore

Social media was abuzz with the hashtags #YouCannes #MarvellousMatte and #GlamorousGloss and some really lucky girls got to be part of the collection launch in Mumbai walking alongside the stars. Not likely to be left behind, bloggers also put on their best foot forward in Red Carpet looks for an opportunity to meet and interact with the stars and an exclusive photo opportunity. I was excited to be part of Sonam’s TeamMarvellousMatte and experimented with the products sent over by the brand well in advance to achieve the look I wanted.

Here is how my look tuned out for the day… I used the Colour Riche Moist Matte Lipstick in Raspberry Syrup and Super Liner Gel Intenza in Sapphire Blue, the exclusive Cannes Collection. Sonam was wearing the same shade as I was and apparently both of us like it the best from the entire collection even though the Cannes 2015 collection has some spectacular shades of gel eyeliner, and less experimented shades of gloss and some beautiful newer Swarovski embellished limited edition moist matte lipsticks.

I'm Marvellous Matte For L'Oréal's Cannes Collection 2015, What I Wore

Since at the #RedParty I wore Blake Lively’s Pure Scarleto I was sure that the new Raspberry Syrup matte lipstick would suit my skin tone perfectly. I loved the pigmentation it offered and the staying power is phenomenal. I usually shy away from eye makeup due to the fact that I have super-sensitive eyes but I just couldn’t resist the gorgeous colour of the Sapphire Blue Gel Intenza eye-liner. The brush helps the gel slide evenly and achieves the shape you want easily; it’s now my go-to product for my eye makeup.

My outfit is one of the many I purchased from Myntra which I dug out of my wardrobe after wondering what to wear for one whole day. I complimented my outfit with some amazing Vintage Desi accessories including a Namrata Kedia Gold Cuff and Shillpa Purii Pearl Ring. My new Dune London heels suited the outfit perfectly adding the much-needed pop of colour to the entire look. And then of course the L'Oréal Paris, Raspberry Syrup was the icing on the cake.

Not to be left behind, I quickly stole a moment to speak to Katrina and got a picture taken too. She is the perfect #GlossGoddess.

2015 has arrived with a bang. In the very first month, I've collaborated with two amazing beauty brands and three gorgeous fashion brands to bring to you the best that the industry can offer. First things first! If you follow me on Instagram and/or Twitter, you sure know all about it. But if not, don’t worry you shall, but all in good time.

The L'Oréal Launches the Cannes Collection At The Red Party #GoRouge

A very exciting project was initiated by L'Oréal Paris India, where the brand invited beauty bloggers from Mumbai to collaborate for their L'Oréal Paris Colour Riche Pure Reds Collection. Every blogger was styled by Hair and Makeup Expert, Namrata Soni before shinning in the limelight to be beautifully clicked by photographer par excellence, Rema Chaudhary. The amazingly eventful day organized by PR gurus at FoxyMoron was infused with manicures and nail art sessions while sipping cocktails and munching on pizzas at LIV, the club.

Having met Namrata at various L'Oréal workshops, being styled by her was an amazing experience. She and her team spent considerable time with each of us to understand our individual uniqueness and then style us accordingly. Every blogger was flaunting a shade from the Pure Red range of matte lipsticks that flattered her persona, her skin-tone and her individuality.

Here is a checklist of the different shades, and which beauty endorses it!

The L'Oréal Launches the Cannes Collection At The Red Party #GoRouge
Shades Available: Gong Li-Pure Amaranthe, Fan Binbing-Pure Vermeil, Sonam Kapoor-Pure Garnet,
Aishwarya Rai-Pure Brick, Freida Pinto-Pure Rouge, Blake Lively-Pure Scarleto, Li Bing Bing-Pure Fire

It was a whirlwind session, where Namrata’s assistant first did my base makeup and then Namrata did my hair. As I looked at myself, I was all set to flaunt the reds endorsed by any of the Indian beauties and was amazed when Namrata picked out the Pure Scarleto endorsed by the beautiful Blake Lively. I was stumped, thinking I’d look so unnatural, but I had faith in Namrata and we went ahead with the lip colour.

The end result is here for you to see… I was a new person, born to stand out. A colour so unique that I just couldn't recognise myself!

Once I was ready I was rushed to the photo-session and after a few awkward poses, I kind of got into the rhythm. After a few takes I was at ease and the pictures got done in a few minutes. A wonderful afternoon came to an end when all the bloggers were brought together for a group photo… It was fun, chaotic madness… Moving bloggers around numerous times, taking a zillion shots where either someone was yawning, or someone was napping or someone wasn't looking at the camera.

And here are the pics that the talented Rema took. After a crazy hectic day, these pictures make all the efforts worthwhile.

We have met on numerous occasions for events, parties and shopping but the L'Oréal Paris India #RedParty gave us the time to bond like girls; giggling, laughing, gossiping and flaunting. It was an evening that all of us would cherish forever.

Don’t the pictures say it all?
