Fashion, for me is all about comfort and individual preferences coupled with a distinct personality and simplicity. And one place I make sure to be at is the Fashion Week. Year-on-year Lakmé Fashion Week has introduced me to new and exciting talent whilst reiterating the timeless elegance of industry stalwarts.

This year, Lakmé Fashion Week Summer Resort Edition has an electrifying line up of designers showcasing their collections over the next five days beginning with none other than acclaimed fashion and costume designer Manish Malhotra. Manish in association with LYF showcases the Elements collection inspired by the range of LYF smart phones by the same name.

Keeping the ‘Nature’ theme in mind the set that was constructed offsite at Mumbai’s Mehboob Studios like a beautiful forest with a cream-coloured tree right on the ramp and floating birds all across the arena. Soft music coupled with birds chirping took us all to the land of dreams; transporting us instantly into a story book. Amidst the euphoria the show started to highlight embellished gowns, lehengas with trails and structured tops and blouses. Layers of fabulous organza, tussar and crepe in pastel hues of baby pink, powder blue, light green and orange make it perfect for the summer bride and bride maids. The manner in which technology is merged with fashion today the collection is a perfect blend to bring in the amalgamation of rich fabrics, delicate embroidery and flattering silhouettes with #LYFsmartphones  to capture the essence of the journey. I am using the LYF handset to match the adrenaline and the fashion rush at #LFW.

My favourite part of the entire collection was the sharp asymmetrical cuts that added a touch of edgy mystic to the collection. As with every collection, there was a capsule for grooms in the Elements collection that perfectly complimented the offering for the summer bride.

Cheering from the front row were Manish’s Bollywood buddies including his muse Kareena Kapoor.

Jacqueline Fernandez walked in one of the season’s best; a shimmery silver evening gown with a sheer pink cape that every bride-to-be will want.

Arjun Kapoor styled by Manish for his movie Ki and Ka, appeared alongside Jacqueline in a dark blue sherwani with a plain silver jacket and a stole.

Speaking about the collection, Manish emphasised that the ‘Elements’ collection brings out the dichotomy of beauty and power present in the four elements – Earth, Water, Wind and Flame; similar to the contrast of confidence and demureness; tradition and glamour of a contemporary bride. And I couldn’t agree more.
