With the temperatures dropping, there is a slight dip in the air that makes it difficult to figure whether it's a dewy morning or a windy evening or even a cold night. But that hasn't deterred me from pre-planning my looks for the beautiful next few winter months... yes that's me!

It’s funny that no matter how season-perfect my curated looks are, and I will step out of home in gorgeously snug sweaters and boots, by midday I shall look like I’ve been walking endless in a desert, but mind you not I shall still keep supporting these fabulous looks with a quick change of clothing all stuffed into my large handbag. However since not all of us are that crazy, I’m putting together a collage of pieces that will look almost perfect for the winters but won’t make you feel like being in the summers, in good old Bombay.

Layered Corset
The staple of the summers is making its way into the fall but with a twist, layered with either a button-down shirt or a cotton maxi dress. With the right underlay, a little bit of styling, I can wear my corsets during the colder months too. Not only does the look feel out of the box, when paired with graphic long sleeve tshirt, the styling creates an avant-garde look. The look will look fantastic on everyone who wants to flaunt their curves and will feel in place for a dinner date at the pub, or clubbing with friends and more-so-over at a music festival.

Bold Cut-Out
It may seem bizarre that I’m suggesting cut-outs for winters, but trust me its all over, from the runway, to the red carpet and even in the streets. Right from the slit at the neckline to a navel barring pinched dress to mid-rib flaunting geometrical cuts, its all about a little skin show this winter. I’ve found a vintage knit dress that lets me bare my back while keeping me super chill literally. Cut-outs work best on everyone, its like one’s own little show, and can be covered up with a long cape or a stylish shawl.

Cosy Turtleneck
My all time go-to look in the winters is a warm, cosy turtleneck sweater that makes you feel warm inside out and pair it with casual tops for women, a pair of straight fit jeans, over-the-knee boots and I love to throw in a light bright scarf. This looks is so comfortable and easy to wear, and can be pumped up with the right accessories and toned down with an underplay. The best part is that this look will compliment everyone and will feel just right for an outing with he girls, a brunch with the family or a night out with the boys.

So what style will you incorporate this fall, let me know in the comments below.

Until next time,

I took a shine to boots when I studied in London, and the weather did help me embrace the new shoe variant whole-heartedly. I picked boots in a variety of summer-spring-winter friendly styles and even mixed colours that added magic to my outfits. I soon realised that styling boots could sometimes be very tricky, either it can amp the style three-fold or drop the look into the ditch to win a Razzie Award in fashion. Of course, I experimented and smoothly sailed through my boot looks while hitting the jackpot quite a few times. And since I don’t want any of you gorgeous girlies to go wrong, especially with styling boots in India, here is a quick boot guide to inspire you to wear boots throughout the year without looking overdressed or trying too hard.

So let's get onto a cheat sheet about the types of boots:
Ankle Boots:
I started my boots journey with a pair of ankle boots, which are a must style. They are classic and timeless and can be styled for a date night or when hanging out with friends or even at work. My first ankle boots were Chelsea boots that were slim and simple neutral boots.
Mid-Calf Boots:
Just as the name suggests, these boots end mid-calf and are actually the least favourite style for me as they make me look frumpy. However, if you do want to get a pair, the best bet would be cowboy boots in a fun colour with some stylish accent.
Knee Boots:
My favourite boots are a pair of knee-high boots that are stylish and sexy at the same time. They are easy to style, accentuate any outfit and are easy to go from day-to-night. I have a pair, each in low and sky-high classic heels and also a fun pair in block heels.

Next up are the best outfit permutations for your boots:
With Jeans:
The easiest way to style boots is skinny jeans tucked into them. Go casual with an oversized tee, or go formal with a blazer, or party-ready with a blouse.
With Dresses:
The trick to styling boots with a dress is to contrast the lengths. Pair ankle-length boots with a maxi or midi dress, mid-calf boots with a midi dress and knee boots with a mini dress.
With Shorts or Skirts:
Again the trick that works for a dress works for shorts and skirts. However, if you want to experiment, try pairing knee-high boots with a midi skirt or a wrap skirt.

And finally, simple yet crucial tips for picking your boots:
⟡ Just like any shoes, the fit is the most important, choose comfort over style
⟡ For the first pair, buy offline so you can walk in 2-3 sizes, before deciding
⟡ Pick leather or fabric depending upon the climate and prevailing weather
⟡ Don’t forget the socks to match your boots, preferably in the same colour

Now you know most of all that you should about boots, so quick go and get yours today. Also, let me know in the comments, which are your favourite styles and why.

Until next time,
~ Heena

Fall is almost here and we are actually experiencing some great weather here in Mumbai for a change. It's not too cold, but there is a definite drop in the air. I’ve started moving things around in my closet to accommodate some definite items that I will need.

Most of you know how much I love my basics… more often than not you will see me in a t-shirt and denim. I’d sometimes generously thrown in a few accessories and some trendy footwear, but that's about it. However as the climate gets a little cooler outside these days, I still prefer to stick to my favourites with a bit of a twist that makes me stand out. As the temperatures drop, I layer my look with some amazing coats for women that simply work their magic while letting me be me.

I am obsessed with outerwear, and I think it is the one piece of clothing that every woman should invest in. I wear coats in and out, especially during the winter months and so I ensure that my outerwear is both warm and stylish. So if you have to raid my closet today you will see it with innumerable options of outerwear including plaid flannel button downs, light jackets, dressy shrugs, trench coats and winter coats.

Every girl should have a Trench Coat. I’ve attended a few launches for the Autumn-Winter brand collections and I want every single piece in all the collections. I highly recommend a Solid colour Lapel Breasted Coat for someone who wants to get their first Trench Coat. To have a closet full of options that you can never go wrong, you must invest in an elegant Quilted Jacket, or a super comfy Bomber Jacket or a luxurious Camel Jacket. With numerous options available, do not get bogged down. Choose wisely and play with a hint of colour, or experiment with interesting patterns and textures. This year I didn’t go window shopping but picked my absolute favourites from the comfort of my home. I've discovered a huge selection of women's clothing, outerwear, spring coats, spring jackets and more at FashionMia, here are some of my favourites.

So are you ready to face the dropping temperatures? If not, visit click here to visit FashionMia.

I'm starting a brand new section now on, to bring you the latest trends in fashion and beauty industry.

After much thought about what to highlight first, I decided to feature the trend that brings back some amazing childhood memories. The COWBOY BOOTS that have caught the fancy of the fashion world after the Valentino co-creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri wore them to the brand’s Menswear Fall/Winter 2016 collection in Paris last month.

No, you don’t need to head to the ranch to embrace the trend, but be experimental in styling them in different ways. Pair them with a maxi dress or a flowing skirt and tank or crop top for the carefree approach. Style them with a midi or mini to keep those feet warm this winter or even with skinny jeans tucked in them. And why not as they are the most versatile and stylish piece of footwear that you may own. Get creative and go chic.

Here are some of my favourite styles available on Shein, go get yours at fabulous prices.

Black Pointy Buckle Strap Zipper PU Boots

Coffee Chunky Heel Round Toe PU Boots

Wine Red Chunky Heel Suede Mid-calf Boots

Apricot Chunky Heel Tassel Zipper Boots

What do you think about the cowboy boots trend making an appliance in the urban style guide? Let me know what you think in the comments below.
