#WorldInteriorsDay calls every decor enthusiast to experiment with new and innovative ideas on personalising their homes and personal corners. Two aspects that decor experts concentrate on is the play of colours and textures to make a simple corner into a dream space; which not many realise can be achieved by a few tweaks in the existing interiors of the home.

The Colour Store that believes in where designs meets possibilities and ideas meet execution holds regular workshops, experientials and DIY's where consumers can experiment before deciding on the way forward. On the occasion of ‘World Interiors Day’, the #AsianPaints #ColourStoreBandra celebrated interiors with a unique movies-inspired workshop with an aim of educating interiors enthusiasts on aspects of colour, design, textures, etc to change their living spaces. The workshop was poised as an 'Intelligent and Inspiring Interiors, from the Silver Screen to your Homes' where enthusiasts could visualise the design aspects from films and bring them to their homes. The workshop was conducted by Film Production Designer, Shruti Gupte of Taare Zameen Par, Aisha, The Lunchbox and Khoobsurat fame.

Shruti took the audience through the process of designing as a film production designer talking about associating individual colours with the characters and then weaving a design story around them to highlight their individual traits. Speaking of her movie experiences she emphasised how we as consumers need to make ourselves the heroes and heroines of our own movie scripts. She added how colours and textures are not to be feared but embraced as part of our personality as our personal and professional environments are an extension of our personality and should inspire our days, help create memories or convey our aspirations. She continued that just as movies take inspiration from our reality similarly we should let reel-ties become our reality. Agreeing that it is a step-by-step moving out of our comfort zone to experiment that is not always an easy decision, she nudged consumers to allow Asian Paints Colour Store to assist in realising our dreams before we choose to make it to the permanent change.

Amit Syngle, President-Sales, Marketing and Technology, Asian Paints Ltd. concluded with sharing insights on how to choose the right colour and initiating firsthand experience activities to engage consumers at the Colour Store. So whether you are looking for Signature Walls or Statement Furniture, or just visualising your space before committing to the change, head straight to the Asian Paints’ Colour Store, Bandra to be inspired.

Planning a visit to London? After booking your flight and picking the perfect London hotel, the next item on the list is figuring out where to dine in this British metropolis. London is packed with everything from expensive, swanky restaurants to ultra-affordable, no-frills street vendors. The great thing about this city is that whether you dine in luxury or while just lounging on a park bench, you can enjoy some truly delicious food.
But what should you eat while you’re there? You’ll be bombarded with international cuisine options and hearty English dishes everywhere you turn. Tantalising smells will waft from street carts, cafes and restaurants alike, all of which make it more difficult to decide what to eat. But on a limited jaunt in this city, you’ll want to make your menu selections carefully. It’s important to enjoy the traditional flavours this city serves up without missing out on some of the more exotic offerings.

To help travellers make the most of every meal in London, we’ve put together this hassle-free guide to the city’s best dishes. Use this menu to make sure you don’t miss out on the incredible flavours that London has to offer during your visit.

Fashion is all about being comfortable in your own skin while putting your most stylish foot forward. Unfortunately, fashion trends change every season and for a normal girl like you and me, it is very difficult to keep up with them since it does cost a lot of money.

However being in a fashion-forward city like Mumbai, where every corner is busting with boutique stores and malls, it becomes very difficult to stay in the classic fashion cell. However, over time, I’ve moved from the traditional methods of shopping to the more contemporary ways that not only saves me time and money but also offers me much more choice and option.

The online shopping scenario has slowly yet steadily grown onto me, with the influx of numerous fashion portals. And since I’m such a strong advocate of the benefits of online shopping, here are a few tips that will help you stay on trend and jazz up your wardrobe with the most in-demand pieces at the fraction of the prices.

Add Products to the Cart
While surfing, keep adding products to your cart and leave them there for a few days. If you are lucky enough you might end up getting an additional coupon code or a better price offer via email or the app alert.

Being a parent, I tend to keep adding various products from dresses for girls to cute accessories, from toys to school supplies to my cart and wish list regularly. I was surprised to receive an email from the portal a day after my browsing session offering me a reduced price for products that were on my wish list. Without losing a moment I clinched many products for a fraction of its price for my little princess, one being this super stylish dress that’s perfectly on trend.

Opt for Email Alerts
It’s a good idea to sign up for email alerts with your favourite store so as not to miss the online sales and regular offers. Some online portals also offer coupon codes depending on your spend history or a discount just to join the mailing list.

It was an online shopping high when I received an email with an amazing offer for a ladies watch I was eyeing for a while. I managed to get the watch at an amazing price of about 60% of its retail price.

So with these simple tips you must get online and shop as and when you want, because unlike the brick and mortar stores, online stores don’t pay any rent or employ a huge staff thereby passing on all the saving to you, the customer.

Pearl Academy, India’s leading private institution for Fashion, Design and Business; founded in Delhi now has three campuses across the country in Delhi, Jaipur and Mumbai. Portfolio is the institute's annual graduating show where students from various courses display their design creatives and the best works get nominated for awards. Since this year was Pearl Academy Mumbai’s first graduating class, #PearlPortfolio2016 #MumbaiChapter was it’s first event in the city.

The event was inaugurated by Shri Shivanand Hulyalkar, Vice Chairperson, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India while Mr. Nachiket Barve, renowned fashion designer and Mr. Vineet Gautam, CEO Bestseller were the guests of Honour. The students from the academy exhibited their projects and the grand finale concluded with a fabulous fashion show followed by the award ceremony.

With over 70 projects at display, the inaugural Portfolio saw some revolutionary ideas in fashion, design and creative business. One of the  students, who worked for the software giant TCS for over 3 years quit her job and joined Pearl Academy and came up with a business plan to create an app to connect volunteers with the elderly who require them. The model based on community based palliative care has been nominated for the prestigious Global James McGuire award. Fashion students came up with interesting ideas like a fashion line inspired from planet Mars and sustainable fashion fabrics.

Unlike routine graduating ceremonies, the PearlPortfolio featured varied lines including casual wear, bridal and maternity wear and kids and mens wear. Below are the three things that I loved about the event…

Installations at the Exhibition:
Collaborations with Industry Bodies:
Versatility in Design:

Portfolio’16 ended on a high note with an awards ceremony. The winners were thrilled to receive awards from the industry stalwarts present at the event.

The delight of Shanghai, on the Pacific Oceans' western shore, lies in the simplicity it holds on either side of the Huangpu River. Puxi, west of the Huangpu River, is considered older Shanghai, with its traditional shops, restaurants, and museums. Modern Pudong on the east is lined with high-rise buildings and boutique hotels. Whether you see the city as a traditional fishing village or a seaport, choose an easily accessible Shanghai hotel to make the most of your visit. When in Shanghai, explore these attractions.

This train is the first commercial maglev line, designed similar to modern day aircraft with two to three seats per row, temperature control, and trained attendants. Don't forget to click a selfie when the LCD screen alerts you that the train has reached its maximum speed of 431 kph. The Shanghai Maglev has recorded as the fastest commercial train in the world by Guinness World.

Head to the world-renowned museum that houses over a quarter million rare and unique cultural artefacts to see 5000 years of Chinese history. The Shanghai Museum is located in the People’s Square within the centre of the city. The bronze collection displayed in the museum is said to be the most fascinating to visitors. The museum only admits a set number of visitors every hour and offers an audio guide to enrich the understanding of all the exhibits.

Spend an evening at The Bund boardwalk admiring its magnificent architecture against the backdrop of the peaceful Huangpu River. This street dedicated to more than 50 architectural styles ranging from Gothic to Baroque, Roman to Renaissance, is picture perfect against the illuminated night sky. The Oriental Pearl Tower stands 468 meters tall, the highest in Asia. It is made of three main spheres, three gigantic columns, and—the highlight—a moving capsule.

Meditate at a temple built in early 220AD. The Jingan Temple, the most famous temple in Shanghai, is under National Protection. It has three meditation halls: Hall of Heavenly Kings, Mahavir Hall, and Three Sage Hall. Jing'an is most visited for the portrait of Sakyamuni, which brings inner peace and commands reverence. Every year a traditional fest is held at the temple to celebrate Lord Buddha's birthday.

Laze in a garden constructed in the mid-1500s by the Ming Dynasty's Pan Yudan for his parents. Over time, the temple was ruined by the British and Japanese armies then reconstructed. Visitors line up for a glimpse of the exquisite Jade Rock in the Heralding Spring Hall. The rock is over three meters high and has 72 holes over its surface. When a joss stick is burned below the rock, you can catch smoke emitting from all the holes in peaceful tandem.

So what are you waiting for? Pack your bags for Shanghai now!
