Vacations are my life, but family vacations are getting stressful as they now mean planning and packing for a huge group. Our vacations are now overwhelming as we travel in a group of six, with two kids…one under the age of one. Of course, over the years I have accumulated a great deal of packing experience and my travel bags are ready almost two days prior to our travel date. But are they really?

Yes, they are! That was a moment of truth when I decided it was time to make a check-list with my packing wisdom, and separate the dos from the do not's. I am not going to detail out what you need to pack or with a list of must-have items, as that would be extremely individualistic. Instead, I’m going to share some packing tips that have helped me hold things together and I’m guessing they are going to help you do the same.

Make Lists
The easiest way to ensure you are getting everything you need is to make an essentials checklist for travelling with a child, then go on to make separate lists for everyone. Once the lists are ready, pick out the things and keep adding them to individual piles while crossing the same off the list. This will help you not to forget knee socks for your dad and a favourite blanket for your baby.

Use Cubes
The best way to keep your bags organised is to pack using packing cubes. Either you can keep organised by putting together daily outfits or by clubbing clothing you will need at a particular destination (assuming you are travelling to multiple places). This method also helps as you need not unpack everything when travelling and just need to pull out a particular cube and be sorted.

Emergency Set
The convenient way to be ready for any emergencies or delays is to have an emergency set at hand, tugged safely in a piece of hand luggage. An emergency set should contain a set of spare clothes and a cosy blanket or sweater for each of the family members and some toiletries and a few toys for everyone to share.

Individual Bags
The most tempting thought would be to pack all your kids things in one bag but that would be the most inconvenient and a sure shot way to get disorganised. Instead, have medium sized travel bags for each child, in which all their items go, making them partly responsible for their own stuff. If you do not have enough bags, you can check out travel bags online.

Keep Space
The simple method of packing will push you to fill your travel bags as best as you can, but I prefer to differ. Leave some room in every bag for ease of finding as well as for things that you may want to bring back from your holiday. More times than not you may have to otherwise pack in an extra bag for your souvenir shopping.

Is there something, in particular, you do when packing? Share your tips with me in the comments section and I shall have them added to the article.

Fashion is all about being comfortable in your own skin while putting your most stylish foot forward. Unfortunately, fashion trends change every season and for a normal girl like you and me, it is very difficult to keep up with them since it does cost a lot of money.

However being in a fashion-forward city like Mumbai, where every corner is busting with boutique stores and malls, it becomes very difficult to stay in the classic fashion cell. However, over time, I’ve moved from the traditional methods of shopping to the more contemporary ways that not only saves me time and money but also offers me much more choice and option.

The online shopping scenario has slowly yet steadily grown onto me, with the influx of numerous fashion portals. And since I’m such a strong advocate of the benefits of online shopping, here are a few tips that will help you stay on trend and jazz up your wardrobe with the most in-demand pieces at the fraction of the prices.

Add Products to the Cart
While surfing, keep adding products to your cart and leave them there for a few days. If you are lucky enough you might end up getting an additional coupon code or a better price offer via email or the app alert.

Being a parent, I tend to keep adding various products from dresses for girls to cute accessories, from toys to school supplies to my cart and wish list regularly. I was surprised to receive an email from the portal a day after my browsing session offering me a reduced price for products that were on my wish list. Without losing a moment I clinched many products for a fraction of its price for my little princess, one being this super stylish dress that’s perfectly on trend.

Opt for Email Alerts
It’s a good idea to sign up for email alerts with your favourite store so as not to miss the online sales and regular offers. Some online portals also offer coupon codes depending on your spend history or a discount just to join the mailing list.

It was an online shopping high when I received an email with an amazing offer for a ladies watch I was eyeing for a while. I managed to get the watch at an amazing price of about 60% of its retail price.

So with these simple tips you must get online and shop as and when you want, because unlike the brick and mortar stores, online stores don’t pay any rent or employ a huge staff thereby passing on all the saving to you, the customer.

Do you remember earlier this year when L'Oréal Paris, India launched their Colour Riche Pure Reds Collection they invited bloggers from the city for a unique experience. We were pampered by ace Hair and MakeUp Expert, Namrata Soni and then photographed by photographer par excellence, Rema Chaudhary to reveal the shades of the collection.

That I thought was pure luxury and hardly any other blogger activity could be more fun and pampering. However I am so glad to say I was wrong and that experience was taken a few notches up by L'Oréal Paris,  last week. The folks once again invited the same set of bloggers for the launch of the new #CannesStars Collection with ambassadors Sonam Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.

I'm Marvellous Matte For L'Oréal's Cannes Collection 2015, What I Wore

Social media was abuzz with the hashtags #YouCannes #MarvellousMatte and #GlamorousGloss and some really lucky girls got to be part of the collection launch in Mumbai walking alongside the stars. Not likely to be left behind, bloggers also put on their best foot forward in Red Carpet looks for an opportunity to meet and interact with the stars and an exclusive photo opportunity. I was excited to be part of Sonam’s TeamMarvellousMatte and experimented with the products sent over by the brand well in advance to achieve the look I wanted.

Here is how my look tuned out for the day… I used the Colour Riche Moist Matte Lipstick in Raspberry Syrup and Super Liner Gel Intenza in Sapphire Blue, the exclusive Cannes Collection. Sonam was wearing the same shade as I was and apparently both of us like it the best from the entire collection even though the Cannes 2015 collection has some spectacular shades of gel eyeliner, and less experimented shades of gloss and some beautiful newer Swarovski embellished limited edition moist matte lipsticks.

Since at the #RedParty I wore Blake Lively’s Pure Scarleto I was sure that the new Raspberry Syrup matte lipstick would suit my skin tone perfectly. I loved the pigmentation it offered and the staying power is phenomenal. I usually shy away from eye makeup due to the fact that I have super-sensitive eyes but I just couldn’t resist the gorgeous colour of the Sapphire Blue Gel Intenza eye-liner. The brush helps the gel slide evenly and achieves the shape you want easily; it’s now my go-to product for my eye makeup.

My outfit is one of the many I purchased from Myntra which I dug out of my wardrobe after wondering what to wear for one whole day. I complimented my outfit with some amazing Vintage Desi accessories including a Namrata Kedia Gold Cuff and Shillpa Purii Pearl Ring. My new Dune London heels suited the outfit perfectly adding the much-needed pop of colour to the entire look. And then of course the L'Oréal Paris, Raspberry Syrup was the icing on the cake.

Not to be left behind, I quickly stole a moment to speak to Katrina and got a picture taken too. She is the perfect #GlossGoddess.

As a stylist I am amazed to comprehend how fashion and style have evolved over the years. Historical events, climatic conditions and traditional beliefs have influenced the way people dress throughout the decades. Some styles have remained eternal standing the test of time to reinforce their power as the classics.

While some came and disappeared within a single season, falling to the “going out of style” fad of changing trends. Thus by that permutation and combination the only constant in fashion is ‘CHANGE’.

Change…. The only constant has not been restricted to fashion styles or makes. It has made a presence felt even in the experience that inculcates fashion into your lifestyle. At the onset fashion was first made available to people like you and me at boutique stores closer home and then with time were converted in huge malls with brands brimming with their latest collections. But for us professional stylists, we had to scale the fashion hubs all over the world to procure prevailing trends for our clientele. But this was so restricting that sometimes fashion wasn’t what fashion was supposed to be. Over the years thanks to globalization and the advancement in technology the world has become a relatively smaller and a hugely close-knit place.

Today, I see what’s happening all over the world and indulge in what I like from the comfort of my home. The digital world has enabled me to see what the fashion fraternity has to offer and follow the movers and shakers of the industry. I see what they are wearing, how top celebrities are styled and what brands are churning out one season after another and how I can adopt those to suit my style.

Over the last few years online shopping has become such a routine thing for me that I prefer to shop online after comparing prices and products with a click of a mouse. Gone are the days when I made shopping lists or stood in long payment queue or lugged heavy shopping bags around.

The beauty of technology has made shopping such a pleasure, for which I have to thank all those geeks working on the regular technological developments. And these crazy geeks don’t stop at anything. After addicting me with online shopping they have taken a step forward, creating mobile applications to keep me abreast with the latest trends when I’m on the go.

The next big thing in the Fashion-Technology segment is mobile-based applications. The gen-next no longer wants to be grounded (pun intended) and be dependent on laptops or desktops for their online shopping needs. They want to shop on the go… access fashion apps everywhere.

So you will ask me what’s the deal about mobile-based apps when I can surf  the brand’s mobile site?

Fashion Takes A Huge Stride Forward With Myntra App
Fashion Takes A Huge Stride Forward With Myntra App

Well for starters the mediums, mobile site and mobile apps allow me to access the brands but they are definitely not the same. A mobile site is the same as the actual website on a smaller space while a mobile app is a fashion corner on the mobile device.  Not only is the app easy to access every time I want to look for a product, it also is convenient and quick. The app is a clever friend that knows my preferences and sends me instant notifications on new collections that would suit my style, availability of products I’m interest in and a definitive better product price. Additionally I believe the mobile-app based shopping will enable a mobile payment option that could be used across various platforms making it secure and safe.

But how many brands today have the courage to move from a tried and tested website mode to an app mode? Most play it safe with presence in both the versions, but not the trendsetters. Myntra, the major Indian fashion e-store has announced that keeping in line with the technological and digital advancements the brand will shut down its website and will going forward retail only through its mobile app.

The first of its kind initiative to become the only mobile app retailer will give Myntra a huge advantage before the competition catches up. I am looking forward to the systematic phase-out of the website into a more experience enhancing mobile app that shall up my style and fashion ante, cause #ItsPersonal.

What are your thoughts about this move?

October has arrived… and has brought with it the best time of the year; the festive quarter. Three months of customs, celebrations and dressing up fun.

We need one reason to dress up, however, we are offered many in the month of October itself … Navratri, Dusshera, Karwa Chauth, Dhan Teras, Lakshmi Puja and Diwali. And so the hunt for the best outfits, the best accessories and also the best gifts begin. Sometimes it does get a bit difficult to find the perfect matches, but not anymore. Forget the crazy queues outside the trial rooms, forget being pushed around the store, and forget checking ten stores to find an outfit that makes you look like a star; shop from the comfort of your home through a miracle store called Myntra.

My Ethnic Looks For This Festive Season From Myntra

Myntra.com is a one-stop online heaven for all your fashion and lifestyle needs. The online store aims at offering a hassle-free shopping experience to shoppers with its wide range of products and brands. The only glitch is the amazing number of products in all the price ranges that make it extremely difficult to choose just a few products when you practically want to buy the entire store. As I looked through the amazing collection at Myntra, I kept adding to the cart and then had to keep picking one product over the other product. I knew instantly that I would love to create two definite looks that would be as different from each other as day and night.
My Ethnic Looks For This Festive Season From Myntra
Biba Churidar Kurta, DoBhai Peep Toes, Anouk Handbag, Anouk Drop Earrings, Bentex Watch

I know as a mother, wife and most important as a daughter-in-law during the festive times there is so much that will be expected of me during the day; from decorating, cooking to serving and entertaining and last minute emergency tasks. So my outfit needs to be fuss-free while being beautiful and elegant. As I first started browsing I also kept in mind the weather in my city and zeroed in on the pastel Biba by Rohit Bal Cream Churidar Kurta. A perfect cotton-silk outfit to keep cool with the sun blazing down my back. The beauty of the intricate print designs warrants delicate silver accessories and a rush of colour with a pink handbag. On the makeup front, I'd like to wear my hair in side-swept curls and go bold on the lips and keep the eyes muted.

My Ethnic Looks For This Festive Season From Myntra
Shakumbhari Lehenga Choli, Catwalk Heels, ToniQ Bag, Fida Drop Earrings, DressBerry Ring

While putting together an evening look I'd keep away from the conventional saree, as I want a look that is fun and se*y. The Shakumbhari Lehenga Choli is perfect for my evening look. It is colourful, fun and gorgeous. I’d love to style it with statement earrings cum a cocktail ring and golden add-ons without over accessorizing the outfit will speak for itself. Depending on my mood I would like to throw in a couple of golden bangles or a simple cuff to complete my evening look. On the hairstyle front, I'd either let my hair loose or pull it up onto a high bun to give myself a composed look. And on makeup front I'd love to mute my lips with a n*de lip shine and go dramatic with the eyes.

What colours do you like to flaunt during the festive season? Like you can see mine are in the family of red and green, auspicious colours aren't they? What do you think of my looks?
