The day Lifestyle store launched its Piku collection with lead actress Deepika Padukone, co-star Irrfan Khan and director Shoojit Sircar; I was there to cheer to witness the ethnic fusion collection.
Melange, the in-house ethnic-fusion wear brand by Lifestyle represents the perfect summery kurtas, embellished with intricate Indian motifs, colour blocking and minimal ornamentation. Slated to be paired with straight pants, schiffli laced palazzo and printed scarves; the #PikuMelangeLook captures the subtle elegance of a modern woman firmly rooted in tradition.
With my wardrobe buzzing with color, I went for the simple yet super stylish monochrome kurta from the collection and styled it with an elegant churidar to bring out the gorgeousness of the color-pop border. I fought my urge to replicate the Piku look from the movie using the same combination to stand out in my styling.
The overall outfit so identified with the kind of personality I have … a modern urban girl with a traditional twist. I simply love my jeans and tees and sometimes I venture into the dress-zone as well, however I have kept away from traditional wear because of the hassle and discomfort. However during the launch I was pleasantly surprised that the collection was functional as well as comfortable and trendy. The colors and prints were so summery in fluid fabrics that add character to the overall look.
Styling the kurta was simple, yet I took extreme care to not overdo it even a bit as it would then take away from the beauty of its simplicity.
So, how do you think I look?
