ICynosure

Most of you must know my fixation for cream-based products as opposed to powder products. The one product that I’ve used since it was launched is the cream blush by Oriflame. You can read my review about it here, and you shall know how much I loved it.

So it isn’t a surprise to me that my current favourite cream product is another gem from Oriflame as well. My favourite brand has launched the Colour Impact Cream Eye Shadow as part of its #TheOne range.

Oriflame's The One Colour Impact Cream Eye Shadow Product Review

Since the review products arrived in November, I’ve been testing them continuously, as I simply cannot get enough of them. Here's a quick review of the newest ‘It Beauty Product’ of the season.

What is Oriflame’s Colour Impact Cream Eye Shadow all about?
The product is a one of a kind cream based eye shadow available in the Indian beauty scene. The product claims to be a cream textured eye shadow that spreads evenly when applied with your fingertips. The product is suitable for all skin types as it uses the body heat to blends perfectly. The creaminess will reflect in a natural glow without any dryness of a powder product.  Colour Impact Cream Eye Shadow all about?

What does the ingredient list look like?
Ingredients include Dimethicone, Mica, Calcium Carbonate, Propylheptyl Caprylate, Nylon-12, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Zea Mays Starch, Candelilla Cera, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Stearyl/Ppg-3 Myristyl Ether Dimer Dilinoleate, Alumina, Octyldodecyl Lanolate, Polysilicone-6, Propylparaben, Tin Oxide, Tocopherol, Ci 77891, Ci 77499, Ci 77491, Ci 77007, Ci 77492, Ci 77510, Ci 16035. The richness of the product is felt instantly.

Which are the available shades?
The product is available in six festive shades; Rose Gold, Shimmering Steel, Intense Plum, Deep Indigo, Olive Green, Golden Brown. Each colour is gorgeous and must be tried.

How is it packaged and priced?

The cream blush is provided in a super cute transparent pot with a screw-on cap. It is priced at INR 449 for 4g with a launch offer price of INR 299. The product is worth every penny spent.

My experience and opinion about the product
The one thing that stands out in my experience of using the eye shadow from #TheOne range is that it stays. The creamy texture allows you to blend the product perfectly onto your eyelids with your fingertips and you can change the intensity of the look in a few seconds. The eye shadow does have a bit of a shimmery effect that some may assume as shiny but as you play with the application you can achieve the look you prefer.

An important aspect I chalked out after a few trials and errors to find a perfect process that helps me with my eye shadow look. I first use a primer on my eyelids followed by a moisturiser and a concealer and finally the cream eye shadow to attain the perfect look that doesn’t need correction or touch-up for the entire day. Depending on the time of the day I alternate between a subtle and a more intense look. The One Colour Impact Cream Eye Shadow is a product that could be worn every day.

Product Strengths:
§ Cream-based, yet not oily/greasy making it light and velvety to use
§ Easy to blend not only on prepped up eyelids but also on bare skin
§ Long stay, without any need for touch-up or corrections

Product Weaknesses:
§ Not available over the counter
§ None that I can think of

Will I repurchase/use the product again?               Definitely!

Will I recommend the product to friends?               Sure, Yes!

We’re almost cruising into the last month of 2014. So what’s ahead? So many festivals lined up, parties to vile your time away. With so many invites and so many things planned back to back, make sure you have a wonderful sturdy trustworthy friend that helps to carry your world with you. So dump those bulky handbags and unflattering jolas and head straight to Tidebuy to get your very own stylish backpack.

My Shopping Experience with Tidebuy

I just got mine in the colour of the season… Burgundy or in simple terms Wine Red!

I had been looking for a stylish yet quirky backpack for a long time now that can house my laptop and camera along with a few everyday essentials when I chanced upon the Little Horse Applique Backpack from Tidebuy; something not too small yet not very large.

Of all the little things that go into making a great backpack, this little wonder has a great arm and shoulder strap and sits comfortably on my back for almost half the day. Though it is a single pocket Backpack, it has the right balance for storage and convenience. The structure is as such that it allows great air circulation on the back without clinging on to it; which is a huge bonus given I live in a city like Bombay.

As a little girl, I owned a pony and this backpack instantly reminded of my fun vacations so I had to get it. Of all the lovely colours I choose the vibrant red that would compliment most of my outfit choices.
Since the time it arrived a few days ago, it has been my constant companion wherever I go. I’ve completely fallen in love with my horsie that carries all my stuff and gives me wings to fly like a bird.

Now that I’ve got this one, I’m eyeing a few others from the site…here are a few of my favourites.

Ad Guru-Writer-Lyricist Prasoon Joshi joined Shri Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan by initiating to clean the compound of Sofi Mahal Building in Lalbaug after his poetic contribution via the anthem 'Swachh Bharat Ka Irada'.

The choice of venue may come as a surprise to many given that Sofi Mahal building is a two-floor double room homes to lower-middle-class families, with the compound relatively inaccessible. However, as soon as I reached the place, I knew instantly why it was perfect. Piles of garbage were lying all around the compound with not enough place to walk from one end to the other. A compound where children can easily spend their evenings playing was littered with waste, debris and rubbish.

Prasoon picked the broom and cleaned the compound to enable the local children to play gully cricket. He also organized an underarm cricket tournament “Clean Sweep” to ascertain that cleanliness is maintained.

In all the chaos, I found a few minutes to speak to Prasoon, who was willing to share his thoughts on the campaign. Talking about individual contributions, he emphasized that every person must contribute his/her bit and create pockets in the society which shall be an inspiration to other to follow. Along with influential personalities, even the common man needs to be responsible enough to contribute to the cause in whatever way he can.

When probed about educated people throwing rubbish around instead of being change agents, Prasoon was very clear in the way they should be treated. He said such people must be condemned, looked down upon and taken to task immediately. Only when embarrassed these individuals would not commit the same crime again.

Emphasising on the government’s role, he said that with a leader like Shri Narendra Modi, the campaign was sure to penetrate through the ranks and attain a reasonable success in time to come, given that we do not lose patience. With everything instant that the society is offered today, we want to see the change today. However we must ensure that we continue our fight for the Clean India campaign and work towards increasing awareness on a regular basis.

Talking about his anthem, he said that he wanted children as the main singers of the anthem so that it connects with the youth today. Children today, are the future we look forward to and we need to take them along to make the campaign a success 15 years from now. Instilling a value in a child goes a long way to build a future and bring about that much-needed change.

Yes, I so agree with most of Prasoon’s thoughts. And his actions bore immediate results, as the young guns of Sofi Mahal Building were all set to play their very first game of the tournament. As we were about to leave, the residents came forward to pledge their support for the campaign and committed to a clean compound for their children.

As I left only one thought crossed my mind, ‘If I can influence just one person to commit to cleanliness I shall feel I’ve achieved something’.

And you? How are you doing your bit?

LimeRoad Launches #ShopByCity Saree Festival

Designed with an array of traditional motifs and detailed borders, a Banarasi saree sheds light on the history of the region and its rich heritage. A Banarasi saree is a symbol of great taste in culture and reflects a social standing which adds dimension to the wardrobe with a variety of colours and patterns. Banarasi’s are infused with gorgeous finely crafted gold and silver brocades designs into silk yarns to reflect ancient Mughal influence. Some of the most widely used motifs are floral and foliate motifs (Kalga and Bel) along with a string of leaves (Jhallar) and motifs replicating scenes from villages, temples and mosques. Banarasi sarees are available in a variety of options including silk, organza and georgette with zari tanchoi and tissue brocades. My personal favourite is the Jamavar saree, with its intricate work that runs all over the saree.

Limeroad’s initiative has enabled to revive a dying art that is painstakingly complex yet indisputably loved by both the young and the old. With the art dwindling away slowly, Limeroad’s #ShopByCity is a ray of light for the dying art.

So don’t think twice, make the most of this initiative and support our craftsmen and ensure this dying art is sustained for generations to come. Click here to see the exclusive range that shall not be found anywhere else.

Until next time,

You know how they say, "Good things come to those who are willing to wait." And I’m waiting patiently since Oriflame’s #TheOne range of products are being rolled out slowly.

Having already received a few glorious products including Volume Blast Mascara, Eye Liner Stylo, IlluSkin Concealer, IlluSkin Foundation SPF 20, Colour Impact Cream Eye Shadow and IlluSkin Power SPF 12; I just cannot wait to know what more is in store for me.

Oriflame's The One Range Haul and Review

I’ve always a sucker for a strong foundation that allows building on. So for a killer look, that is flawless and perfect; one must put in the maximum effort in ensuring the base make-up is perfect. I prefer to use make-up to accentuate the base make-up that allows a perfect look for at least a few decent hours without having to be touched up or corrected.

To create that everlasting smooth and natural look, opt for the best concealer and foundation that is suitable for your skin type. Though there are loads of companies offering good substitutes, I’ve fallen in love with #TheOne’s IlluSkin Concealer and Foundation SPF 20.

Oriflame's The One Range Haul and Review

What is the highlight of the IlluSkin base make up products?
The products are extremely light-weight and backed by the amazing HaloLight technology to achieve an illuminated skin. It allows a buildable coverage for a fresh and natural finish and is an oil-free formula that ensures no shine, just a beautiful glow. Additional SPF 20 helps keep skin natural and protected. The combination helps achieve a perfectly natural look that doesn’t weigh down on the skin.

Which are the available shades?
The concealer is available in three variations Fair Light, N*de Pink and N*de Beige while the foundation is available in Porcelain, N*de Pink, Natural Beige and Olive Beige.

How is it packaged and priced?
The concealer is available in a tube while the foundation is packaged in a pump dispenser glass bottle with a cap. Priced at INR 349 and INR 799 respectively, the products can be currently owned at a 25% discount.

My experience and what’s my opinion about the product
Using the products for my base make-up for the last month, I’ve already exhausted 40% of the N*de Pink which perfectly matches my skin-tone. The very first time I used the product, I tried it on the inner section of my wrist. As I massaged the product into my skin, it was absorbed instantly in a smooth even-tone. With regular usage, I realised that the products set into the skin in a couple of minutes and my face is ready for further make-up applications. Apart from this, the products are extremely light-weight not at all weighing my face, and also it stays for a good 6-7 hours.

All in all the base make-up from #TheOne range of make-up products is a full natural coverage product that is easy to blend and extremely light-weight that lasts for a good 6-7 hours.

Range Strengths:
§ Lock Option on the pump of the foundation
§ Lightweight and easy to blend
§ Long stay, without any need for touch-up or corrections

Range Weaknesses:

§ Not available over the counter

Will I repurchase/use the product again?                Definitely!
Will I recommend the product to friends?                Sure, Yes!

In Conversation With Sreejith Jeevan of Brand Rouka

Since my last post about Sreejith Jeevan’s brand Rouka and styling his amazing pieces for my post, Strung Together, featuring 'Rouka' by Sreejith Jeevan, I had a wonderful opportunity to speak to him about his inspiration, collection and a few things related to fashion.

Excerpts of our conversation…
In Conversation With Sreejith Jeevan of Brand Rouka

iCynosure: Which of your two collections was tougher to create and why?
Sreejith: None of the collections was tough. The part where the concept moves to the tangible product is always challenging but I have fun working on my collections, so it doesn’t matter.

iCynosure: Do you have a specific research process when you start working on a new collection?
Sreejith: Not really. My research comes from what I see everywhere. The clothes I make are what I feel people would love to wear and the concepts I work with are stories that have touched my own life. So I’m just telling a story I know. And since it’s a story that I know very well, I have fun expressing it my way.

iCynosure: Who is the woman who is the perfect choice to convey your brand message?
Sreejith: Everyone actually as Rouka is for the eclectic woman. Her canvas is huge; clothes are her friends; and her dreams are big.

iCynosure: Did you visualize yourself showing at Fashion Week?
Sreejith: Very much! :D

iCynosure: On winning the best Fashion Film at LFW, what was the best compliment you received and from whom?
Sreejith: I think the fact that Anaita chose our film amongst some really well-made films is in itself a huge compliment. I’m so thankful to all the people who were there to see it, to Vogue for the honour and to all the people who wrote about it.

iCynosure: What is your favourite part about being a fashion designer?
Sreejith: I love clothes. They are life and even more fun when it’s a livelihood. :D

iCynosure: What is your opinion about eco-fashion?
Sreejith: I wouldn’t call it eco-fashion, I’d say we must encourage sustainable fashion. It must be about buying clothes that make sense, both to the maker and the wearer. When you buy a piece, ask yourself about the people who worked on it, the hands that have brought that piece together.

iCynosure: How would do you describe your personal fashion and style?
Sreejith: My style is very eclectic. For me, clothes have to have a story. I’m a mix of all the things I’ve been and done. And I say that through clothes.

iCynosure: What is the top print for the season?
Sreejith: That’s a vague question, especially because I don’t blindly follow what motif to use, I’d say go artistic. Let the brush speak for itself. We’ve used illustrative embroidery this season.

Rapid Fire
Fashion Film or Fashion Show: Fashion show followed by fashion film
Weather Forecast or Strung Together: They’re both my babies
Kochi or Mumbai: Kochi
Colour or Monochrome: Depends on what I want to talk about
Designing or Styling: Designing

That was such a fun conversation we had… Apart from being a brilliant designer, Sreejith is humble, down-to-earth and a straight-forward person, one of the very few gems in the world of glitz and glamour.

Stay connected with him on Facebook and Twitter. Also, check his website Rouka and tell us in the comment below which is your favourite design by him… We have a surprise lined up for you gorgeous readers.

So close yet so far; in the same room,
Yet millions of miles apart; a life doom,
How do I contain the river from flowing?
Hold me close before I drift away blowing.

I grow strong with glimpses of the past,
Our story so timeless; happiness that vast.
How do I reverse the hands of the clock?
Hold me close let build our relationship blocks.

You were, have been, and are my only love,
The one that flustered me, my beloved!
How do I draw your attention to me again?
Hold me close I feel my life slowly drain.

Let’s dance in the rain, run over the plain,
Let’s do it again, at least do it just to feign.
How do I make you feel the winds that blow?
Hold me close and let our love once again grow.

Trying to find the right words that will never be,
Alphabets don’t say anything about you and me.
How do I make you say something good or bad?
Hold me close before we lose our voices, oh sad.

Our hearts are entwined deeper than we think,
Let's not give up on our unconscious in sync.
How do I know what you feel in your heart?
Hold me close else we shall fall apart.

Why are we so busy without each other?
Knowing nothing else matters nor another.
How do I make you steal a steady glance?
Hold me close we may not have another chance.

I hate this vacuum that rests between us,
I reach out to you, my hand waiting, thus.
How do I bridge this gap between us?
Hold me close our hands will connect us.

The dark night is cold between us,
Let our touch warm the insides of us.
How do I feel the fire in coldness such?
Hold me close, lets #BringBackTheTouch.

A gentle ‘touch’ can go a long way in rekindling the lost spark and chemistry between couples. It was when we held hands at the theatre, accidentally brushed arms while taking a walk or even playfully rubbing our legs under the table.

That's the touch we carve for. Words can lie. Looks can deceive. But a touch... it reveals the truth. Let's #BringBackThaTouch with Parachute Advansed Body Lotion.
